Explore this idea...
Suppose you had a sporting event with 75,000 people in attendance. What would happen if a couple of terrorists were to hijack a plane and crash it into the stadium? How many thousands would be killed? What if it was more than Pearl Harbor? Who would we attack in retaliation? Would we preemptively invade another country in retribution? Which country would we attack? That is the nature of the "war on terrorism". It is being fought unrealistically and wrong. The above example is closer to the attack on the WTC than the attack on Pearl Harbor, although Bush and Cheney say we have to attack them before they attack us. The number of casualties should not determine which country we invade, unless those countries are proven to be involved in the attacks. Iraq was never proven to be involved in any attack.

2. I agree. Their approach makes no sense.
"Terrorist" have no set nationality. The live in no set country. We could even be a "terrorist" country. Wonder when someone will decide to attack us for "harboring" terrorists?

3. Ya know, I think about this all the time at Giants Stadium.
Planes fly directly or almost directly over it constantly since it is in the flight paths of Newark, La Guardia and Teterboro Airports (and to some extent JFK). I haven't noticed it much at Yankee Stadium but at Giants Stadium (holds about 78,000) it is a constant cause of anxiety for me. Sometimes they come directly overhead a low altitude and I can tell you there are a lot more heads that look up than watch the game at those times.

It is maddening, especially since you can see Ground Zero (or more correctly the area where you used to be able to see the Twin Towers) from the stadium ramps.

4. The whole "war on terrorism" is divorced from reality...
And we are to fight this war for a generation on something or an idea that is not real - that is fabricated by paranoids like George W Bush and Dick Cheney? How many roads must a man walk down...?

5. That was the plot of the film "Black Sunday"

Bruce Dern is ideally cast as Lander, a crazed Vietnam veteran, in Black Sunday. Lander joins terrorists Dahlia (Marthe Keller) and Fasil (Bekim Fehmu) in a plot to create a bloodbath at the annual Super Bowl. Piloting the ubiquitous Goodyear blimp, Lander is to ram the aircraft into the capacity Orange Bowl crowd, then fire thousands of poisoned darts into the fleeing spectators. Israeli military officer Kabakov (Robert Shaw) struggles to thwart Lander's plan before it comes to fruition. As unbelievable as it may sound on paper, Black Sunday is wholly credible on film. -- Hal Erickson
