Elections for sale in Alabama???

Panel questions Worley's pick for voter system
Secretary of state says cost key factor in Diebold decision

Tuesday, July 05, 2005

Times Montgomery Bureau tbright@htimes.com
MONTGOMERY - Secretary of State Nancy Worley's choice of a company to develop a statewide voter registration system is taking flak from a nonpartisan committee that unanimously recommended two other bidders.

Worley, a Democrat, said she picked Diebold Inc. because it bid $1.5 million less than the next-lowest bidder and $1.62 million less than the highest bidder.

But committee members want to know why Worley ignored their recommendations and how Diebold was able to bid so low.

The committee, required under a new federal voting law, is composed of 24 Democratic and Republican legislators, judges, circuit clerks and citizens.

...snip

Committee members said Diebold never made the first cut.

1. There's a time to save money, and a time to spend it....
especially when it comes to such a "key factor" and especially coming from a Dem in a red state!!

2. Does She Not Realize?
that Diebold could be what puts her on the street. It kept John Kerry out of the White House, and it may boot Nancy Worley from the office of Secretary of State.

Democrats don't need to aim a shotgun at their own heads when the ball is in our court! We have the SOS office, but now we are basically throwing it away under our own watch? Ludacris! :grr:
