What do you think is the most important statewide race?
If I had to say, it would be for Attorney General.

The race for governor seems like a lost cause anyway, barring more evidence of Riley's ties to Abramoff. Besides, Riley hasn't been that bad and Baxley doesn't seem that good. I'm voting for Loretta Nall -- despite her Libertarian affiliation, she's the most progressive candidate (not) on the ballot.

All the Supreme Court races are important. We need to get some Democrats on that court. If I'm not mistaken, the state Supreme Court is composed of justices all from one party. That can't be good. And I think I would feel the same way if all the seats were occupied by Democrats. I'm not sure, but I think I would feel the same. ;)

I strongly want Jim Folsom Jr. to be elected Lieutenant Governor. In my opinion, he was a pretty good governor. He did a lot to help land the Mercedes-Benz plant, which brought a lot of well-paying jobs to the state. And without that, it is unlikely that we would have landed the Honda and Hyundai factories.

However, the biggie on the upcoming ballot has to be for Attorney General. The incumbent punk named Troy King seems to be a dangerous Christian Reconstructionist. It looks like he has a fetish for needles dripping deadly chemicals. A friend told me that he favors the death penalty for overdue library books, however my hyperbole detector may have been out of service at the time. ;)

King's opponent however believes that we should try to prevent violent crime, instead of only punishing violent criminals. Is that idea really "too liberal for Alabama?"

John Tyson says that maybe it would be a good idea to help troubled kids, before they turn into violent criminals. King says that ideas like that are liberal claptrap, and that the job of the AG is to kill and imprison people.

John Tyson has impressed the nation with the idea that mothers that don't want, or are unable to care for their babies should be given reprieve if they leave their babies at the hospital where they can be cared for. Troy King apparently believes it's better if the babies are thrown in a dumpster behind the local Krystal burger joint, and that the mothers are injected with deadly chemicals.

To any person with an ounce of compassion in their soul, Tyson should be the obvious choice. In my opinion.

1. Gotta disagree
Sue Bell Cobb is by and large the most important race state-wide. If the executive or legislative branch screws up, we can take them to court. However, without fairness and accountability on the court, we have no final recourse.

John Tyson Jr. is a great man, and he has my full support, but if he can't prosecute cases in an unbiased courtroom, his hands are tied.

3. Sue Bell, Tyson, Folsom and
each of the court seats...It's hard to say which is the most
important. I'd love to see us sweep the board...
But most definitely Sue Bell Cobb...and John Tyson....and Jim Folsom....
I can't make up my mind!

5. Sue right now, then Jim, then John Tyson. All the peeps with D after
their names for PSC, especially my neighbor Susan Parker, and all judges and legislators.

In an aside, why did Lucy give up before the race?

Come on! There is enough dirt tying Riley to the Abramhoff Crew, his freaky non-taxpaying pro-prostitution and dope wacko assistant and his waffle on the Christian aspects of taxation to fill the airwaves...

In a related aside, I heard that the Const. Party was urging people to write in Roy Moore! I have half a mind to print up a bunch of flyers and give them out at every snakehandling Earth is 6000 Years Old Ten Commandmentist I can find, but they are so few and far in between here and I am loathe to cross the Tennessee River except to head to the Gulf or to Tuscaloosa...

6. I've been trying to figure Lucy Baxley out
It almost seems like she doesn't really want to be governor, but thought a "campaign" would be quite the lark. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's the only answer I can think of.

7. Lt. Governor
Shelby and Riley are tolerable, but Strange is in the Jeff Sessions camp of the AL GOP.
