Outside ads lower ratings for both major Senate candidates

Anchorage, Alaska - Alaska's U.S. Senate race has taken on a decidedly tougher tone over the past month. Part of that change is due to an campaign ad that began airing throughout the state. The ad, paid for by an Outside group, takes aim at Democrat Tony Knowles.

In installment eight of KTUU-TV’s First Tuesday, the main question seems to be who has been burned worse by the hot chowder that's been flying around. The chowder is the now infamous television and radio ads paid for by soft money from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which falsely inferred that Tony Knowles is against drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge because he has liberal friends.

Did the chowder hurt him? Or did some of it splash back on Lisa Murkowski, even though by law she had nothing to do with the ads?
