Knowles enlists Wesley Clark visit
By NICOLE TSONG
Anchorage Daily News

(Published: August 10, 2004)

Campaign Notebook

Retired Gen. Wesley Clark will arrive in Alaska next week to aid Democrat Tony Knowles' pursuit of the veteran vote.

Clark, a Democratic presidential candidate earlier this year, will stump around the state on Aug. 20 and 21 for Knowles as part of the former governor's bid for the U.S. Senate seat, the Knowles campaign said.

A plethora of Cabinet officials have paraded through Alaska on behalf of Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski, but Knowles luminaries have been limited to veterans such as former Sen. Max Cleland, who visited in May. Knowles has avoided association with more liberal elements of the Democratic Party, where there is widespread opposition to opening the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for drilling. Knowles supports opening ANWR, as do most Alaskans.

Clark, the former Supreme Allied Commander for NATO, will talk about funding for veterans' health care, an issue Knowles, also a veteran, has focused on in the campaign.

I guess I'll have to check his campaign website to see if he's coming to Fairbanks. Why are these things so poorly publicized???

South Fairbanks is swimming is Knowles signs.

6. ...just came back from a week in Alaska...Wes is the Guy to boost!
The folks in Alaska need to know that handing off a US Senatorship to your daughter is just not the way we do things in a Democracy...

Alaska is a Working Class/Government Job State that could use the Democratic party...
