Heads up...
...I hear our fearless leader, Frank, is going to be on Bill Maher tonight. I bet you all can't WAIT to see him on national TV, right?

2. I saw him
and he was pretty lame. I never realized he came across so stupid. He does not strike me as an intelligent man.

4. How do the Republicans always win?
The fix was in. I literally cried real tears when I heard he had defeated Fran. That was a sad, sad day.

They don't "always" win.

Tony was mayor of Anchorage twice, and Governor twice. He led in the polls for 12 straight months as the U.S. Senate candidate. You know what happened in that case.. Gullible people bought Ted Stevens' last minute pleas HOOK, LINE, and SINKER. (Even though most of them now know it was all bogus b.s.)

Look at Anchorage's mayor, Mark Begich ...a Democrat! He has the highest approval rating the city has seen in a decade or more. ~~~ :bounce:

Frank the Bank won because of name recognition... :eyes:

That was "then" though. Look at him NOW!!! He has lower approval ratings than Gray Davis of California had when he was given the boot. :7

We've had several Democratic Governors. And after Frank's term is up, it shouldn't be too difficult to add another D to that list  !!

I sure agree that Fran would have been AWESOME... :( Who knows though.. Maybe she'll give it another shot?

7. I know, Larissa...
I was just so hoping that Fran would win and that Tony would win. I mean, I've been here since 1975 so I know that there have been Democrats in power, and even good populist Republicans like Jay Hammond, who I've NEVER been able to think of as a Republican at all, but the last few years have just gotten me down a little. I'm very proud of Mark Begich though. I think he's been doing a really fabulous job of getting the various factions in town to work together. A uniter, not a divider -- how refreshing. He spoke at one of my daughter's honor society receptions at West High a couple of years ago, and I was so impressed with his intelligence and warmth. Do you suppose he has aspirations to anything more than mayor of Anchorage? I'd vote for him for anything, in a heartbeat.

8. Democratic governors --
I had met Steve Cowper a few times, a very personable guy -- but Sheffield, I don't know -- seemed like a Republican to me, although I guess he had a lot of union support.

5. I knew he was greedy
I just never realized he was stupid. I mean, this man certianly does not have a high IQ.

I'd like to watch a copy of that show just to see how bad he really was!

Blue... I met Steve Cowper too! I was in Fred Meyers up in Fairbanks, and I ran into him in the fruits and veggie section. I said "Hi Governor!!!"

He had a huge, beaming smile and was very happy to chat. :)

Oh edit... I should mention.. it's been a while since I ran into him. It was like 1988 I think? Didn't he move to Texas or somewhere like that?

10. Yes, I think it was Texas
He was friends with the attorneys I used to work for back in 1985 and would hang around in our office when he was in town. I thought it was so cool when he ran for governor that I actually knew him personally and not just through his campaign. He was a personable guy. I liked him a lot.
