it's got all these ridiculous poll numbers, does any one know if this is true?

then if the numbers aren't enough bull shit, it says, "PERCENTAGES ARE BASED ON A REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE OF RESPONSES." what the hell does that mean, did they doctor the polls to show something that wasn't? "o, well these people didn't like any of our proposals, take them out and just add that phrase at the bottom..."

I canvassed a very hispanic neighborhood for MoveOn.org in 2004 and the Hispanic Americans I spoke with all were concerned with illegals. They feared the coyotes and said they lost jobs to illegals. Their take was "We went through the legal process (or my parents did) and illegal immigration was one of the top issues for them along with health care.

I was very surprised. :shrug:

something must be done, but most of these opinions listed are either illegal or grossly unethical.

I don't have my mind made up about this issue. I am concerned about fairness to those folks who went through the whole process of being legal, but I also think that strict controls act in the same manner as drug laws, bringing criminals like "coyotes" into what could be a more open process. For example, prostitution traffickers have the threat of discovery and deportation to help keep their women from escaping.

What really blows my mind:

I can only hope this is a poll only of Hayworth's interested supporters, and not representative of his district or even solely republicans of his district.

I couldn't find this poll, but did take a look at Hayworth's immigration bill. The entire thing is sprinkled with hate and nonsense, here's just the relevant section:

SEC. 701. CITIZENSHIP AT BIRTH FOR CHILDREN OF NON-CITIZEN, NON-PERMANENT RESIDENT ALIENS.

`(1) the child was born in wedlock in the United States to a parent either of whom is (A) a citizen or national of the United States, or (B) an alien who is lawfully admitted for permanent residence and maintains his or her residence (as defined in subsection (a)(33)) in the United States; or

`(2) the child was born out of wedlock in the United States to a mother who is (A) a citizen or national of the United States, or (B) an alien who is lawfully admitted for permanent residence and maintains her residence in the United States.

For purposes of this subsection, a child is considered to be `born in wedlock' only if both parents are married to each other and parents are not considered to be married if such marriage is only a common law marriage.'.

I am not a lawyer, but doesn't the U.S. Constitution trump this?

Consider the 14th Amendment's "equal protection clause",
and Title 8 of the U.S. Code ,Section 1401,

By this bill , I can father a child with an illegal alien or even legal but non-permanent resident, have it born here, and it still wouldn't be a citizen. Provided I didn't marry her. Making it difficult to raise or care for my child or for him to go to school or get a job. Or, if I were less responsible it would make it easy to escape paying child support.

Worse yet, a legal , non-permanent woman could be raped and have an illegal child. I am nearly surprised JDH doesn't make that criminal as well, just to rub it in. But then I haven't read the whole thing...

and why discount common law marriages? that's weird....

if you were bore on U.S. soil then you are automatically a US cittizen... i think it's in the Constitution.

whatever country you're born in, you're a citizen of that country, unless your parents are from another country and they request that you be naturalized in their birth country.

if we didn't have that, there would be millions of people, mostly minorities that are hated, despised or not trusted by the majority community, without any nationality, and by extension without any guaranteed rights.

strongly about illegal immigrants, it pissed me off no end before I was naturalized and told people I was an immigrant to have them ask me if I was legal or illegal? there is an intentional blurring of legal/illegal by the big biz interests who are using illegals to depress the wages of ordinary Americans. we should help the citizens of Mexico to fix their corrupt government instead of allowing them to come here and be 2nd class citizens.
