For months the importance of elections has been stressed by Spanish language media; tv viewers and radio listeners have been told they can have decisive impact and that they must go vote. Morning show hosts, famous entertainers, commentators, analysts, even news anchors have used every opportunity to inform and motivate participation in the election. (Not surprisingly a paid ads told Latinos NOT to vote -- but only a few of those were aired.)

I just searched for informative links that might expound on this, and the very first one I found sums it up. (See 'Spanish-Language Media Launch Drive to Get Hispanics to the Polls' below.)

The second link shows the group 'Somos Republicanos' (We are Republican) (!!!) considers Brewer, Horne and Pierce are 'unfriendly to Hispanics.' McCain is listed as 'Friendly' though. Ha! (See “The Southwestern 2010 Hispanic-unfriendly & Hispanic-friendly Candidate List” below.}

This morning (Election Day) both Univision and Telemundo were talking Politics non-stop for hours, and every commercial break and news break viewers are reminded to vote today.

Spanish-Language Media Launch Drive to Get Hispanics to the Polls

In a campaign called "Tu Voto, Tu Futuro" (Your Vote, Your Future), newscasts on Telemundo, the second-largest Spanish-language network, this week have devoted segments to such questions as how to vote and the importance of voting. Telemundo's website and social media are also participating.

Meanwhile, Univision, the largest Spanish-language network, has teamed up with the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, a non-partisan group, and ImpreMedia LLC, the largest Spanish-language publisher in the U.S., in another campaign that began airing this week.

"The political empowerment of Latinos has been a priority for Univision for some time, as we believe it is the only way elected officials will address the issues that concern and affect the community," said Maria Elena Salinas, co-anchor of Univision Network News, who appears on one of the several public-service announcements the company is airing.

"We are telling people when you go vote, go vote for state representative, school board, governor," he said, but not for Congress that failed to pass immigration reform. The ad had actually helped motivate Latino political participation, he added. "What you are going to see is more engagement."

I am excited to see the results tonight. I hope-hope-hope Brewer La Brujer is upset! What a feat that would be. :fingerscrossed:

However,

At the 'Somos Republicanos' link you supplied, they have Ben Quayle as a 'friendly'? I'd hate to think the Hispanic vote puts Quayle in office. x(

Wait a minute - they have Boxer in the unfriendly column!
And Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina are both friendlies???

There's actually a lot of questionable recommendations on that list... anybody else notice anything strange here?

But at least they may get Terry a few more votes!
