Hope I'm just paranoid

but I got a card in the mail from the new Repuke county clerk, asking me to verify my address and give written directions on how to get to my house (???). I've lived here for 14 years, and only had to register once. Don't recall having to mail in a card before, and am wondering why now-and why the directions to my house????

Is this a way for the Repukes to cull the Democrats from the voting roles? If you don't get it back to him in 10 days, you are no longer registered to vote-note when this was mailed out, when people are on vacation.

Any ideas how or what I should do to make sure my husband and I stay on the voting roles?

and I wrote my state rep. And I'm going by the clerks office to hand deliver this tomorrow and ask some questions.

I've never heard of them asking for directions.

That can't be legitimate - they're up to something. Contact your Congressperson.

you respond - they can put you in their big database and rate you on how to treat you. I imagine that they will consider any response or no response as valuable information.

Get yourself rating as really hating them so they don't bother. Or misinform them. Sorry that politics is all about crunching little numbers and tweaking issues these days.

I've worked on election campaigns and they have names and how people respond (I hate republicans and go to hell) for every name and address in each riding (I didn't worked in Canada). They treat different ratings differently. If you are rated as hating repukes ... they may not call you - but that still gives them data on how hard they have to work on a particular riding to win.

They may just have made a mistake - or they may just be 'reality testing' (which is what sociopaths do to find out a 'mark's' thinking so they know how to influence them or sell them something. Or they may be doing some creepy thing. They are repukes after all.

Keep your mind open. There are many possibilities. Just err on the side of caution if you hate repukes and find a way to not give them the information they seek.

I've been very paranoid myself lately. It's about other things. I go through these stages every once in a while. I think I should go out and buy some beer. That usually helps.

When I registered in 88 you didn't have to declare a party affliation.
Living in Newton Co. even with the best directions to your place Lewis and Clark would get lost.

First find out if this is really the Clerk or a Repuke operative acting as if they had the authority of the Clerk.

Then find out if it is legal to remove you from the voter list for failure to respond to a letter.

This sound a lot like the trick they used in Ohio and Fla. to challenge voters who did not respond to letters.

Notify the District Attorney and the State Attorney if you have ANY reason to suspect foul play!

Don't take this lying down.
