Report from my visit to the county clerk
Yesterday I posted a thread about getting a strange card from my new Repuke county clerk, requesting not only validation of my address for voting purposes, but also a request for directions to my house! I went to the courthouse today, and basically got a runaround. He said, "Oh, you live there. Ok, you vote at this place and for this school district." I already knew all that, and he would from looking at the mailing address. He says I'm registered, but I'm not really sure. And I still don't know why he needed the directions to my house-he said my vague ones (go down the state highway to my mailbox and turn on the dirt road) were fine. My state rep said that he thought it was just a matter of housecleaning, but since he's a Repuke too I don't know that I trust him either.

Hope there's a small election between now and 2006 where I can go vote and make sure I'm still franchised.

1. Did you get a voter registration card?
You should have. Call and request one. It's a valid request from a registered voter.

I'm with you in not trusting them.:hi:

2. No, I didn't
My husband wants to go talk to the man tomorrow. I'll tell him to ask for it.

3. In the interim,
tell him to get you each copies of your filed applications. You're entitled to them. (They'll probably charge you for the Xeroxing .........) They might not give him yours, though.

Usually, cards take a while to come in the mail. Just have your husband find out about them.

If you're challenged when you go to vote, you whip out the copies of the applications and start yelling.

America, 2005.

4. I saw a couple of those cards while in Newton County
last weekend and they did not ask for directions to anyone's house. And yes, that is a new puke in office there.
