Poll: Californians Say State Is On Wrong Track

UPDATED: 6:45 am PDT June 28, 2005

SAN FRANCISCO -- More than twice as many Californians believe the state is on the wrong track as opposed to headed in the right direction, a new poll found.

According to a Field Poll released Tuesday, 59 percent of Californians surveyed said the state is "seriously off on the wrong track," up from 51 percent in February. The percentage of people who believed the state was "generally going in the right direction" fell from 40 percent in February to 28 percent.

Republicans were most optimistic with 46 percent believing the state was on the right track, while just 18 percent of Democrats and 21 percent of those unaffiliated or from smaller political parties agreed.

Among those who believed the state is on the wrong track, 28 percent cited Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger as a reason and 23 percent blamed the state's elected officials and Legislature.

2. To this outside observer it looks like
Grey Davis was screwing up. I'm not going to defend him. But Arnold isn't doing anything to rectify the situation. He's trying to steal people's pensions to balance the budget and that's not a reasonable solution. He has to know that isn't going to happen. He's talking tough on illegal immigration and I think that is a BIG part of their problem but is he actually doing anything about it?

4. Which he'll take from the schools, nurses, cops...
repugs pay a lot of lip service to fiscal conservatism, but we know that is a sick joke with BushCo and the governator's fund raising and willingness to waste another 70 million on a special election shines the light on his true nature
