3. steamers and greyhound, yes. but mavericks?!?

Mavs is an hour north of Santa Cruz. If SC is claiming Mavs, then Huntington may as well claim Windnsea or Blacks.

I gotta go with Huntington. More spots, more consistant breaks, warmer water, and fewer sharks!

5. 1/2 moon bay is a trek
I used to drive up the coast from Santa Cruz to SF 3 or 4 times a week, and Mavericks isn't close by.

that said... when they were having the K2 big wave competition at Mavericks, a number of the contestants were hanging out in SC waiting to be paged.

6. been to half moon several times..
like I said, it's an hour north of SC. If SC claims Mavs as a spot, then "Huntington" may as well claim all of Orange County, and if that's the case then Huntington is a better surf region, hands down. Trestles, Churches, Big Corona, The Wedge, Salt Creek -- I could go on and on.

8. Let's poll this!
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 04:03 AM by Cascadian
Being a sort of "outisder" and have been to both cities, I find this interesting. I think it's also more about Northern California vs. Southern California than anything else. I thought I would make a poll out of this. Let's see who is the real surf city...
