I just started seeing them recently. They make me wanna gag. I'm guessing the actors in them aren't unionized.

1. Yup. I watched one the other day before I realized what it was.
Now that I know, I can have my finger on the mute, or change-channel button, more quickly.

2. The actors in the arnie commercials look very fake
The ads don't have as honest a feel as the ones with the teachers, firefighters, and policemen. They just feel like more contrived political ads.

Aw, to bad for arnie... darn...

3. the one that bundles the props together?? Claims teachers have
jobs for life after they get tenure? hahahahahahaha. the spin is that once tenured a teacher can never be fired, but that is a lot of crap.

BTW, teachers have to pass a test to keep their jobs, but ARNOLD has no test to even run for his job.

4. Is that the one where the woman at the end says
judges should decide the districts? Oh yeah, Assnold. Sounds just like Austria back when the Nazis were in power.

6. He's winning on the judges.
The way the proposition is phrased and proposed, people don't get that it's a deliberate power grab. They also don't get that the "live within our means" is also a power grab from legislature to governor.

I've been doing survey calling and even people who consider themselves Democrats don't get what these props are really about. I'm not allowed to explain or color anything but when I read that Education money is stabilized but that it may increase or decrease depending.......honey, that ain't stabilized. The legislature loses power and the power goes to the governor. Everything else in the proposition is gibberish.

The prop preventing unions from donating money without yearly written permission is another attempt to prevent money from reaching Democratic candidates.`

Democrats haven't properly made the case to our own, let alone other Californians.

7. I haven't gotten anything in the mail yet regarding this election.
I hope DUers' come to a consensus about these propostions and how we should vote for them, so that they aren't duped into voting against their interests. I think we will need a thread on it when the time comes so we can spread the word in our communities.

11. Honestly, I hated every single one of them.
One prop asks doctors to violate confidentiality and rat out young girls who will hop buses to other states to avoid this law and fall into god knows whose hands.

Another offers UP TO 40% discount on drugs for poor people. It's a giveaway to someone but I don't think it's the poor. Since I haven't seen the fine print, please tell me who regulates the prices so that the poor aren't STILL ripped off while the drug store collects a windfall profit? And it's VOLUNTARY so sick people who can't afford gas will have to drive where to fill their prescriptions? The plan sounds so goody goody humane on the surface and my gut yells THIS SUCKS. And who's to stop the drug stores from offering 5% off most drugs and 40% off only one?

Who chooses the "independent" "retired" judges?

I had to tell people that unions would be stopped from giving away members' money to politicians who MIGHT WELL do them good, but not charities....which could mean any faith-based freakshow on the planet. Except I couldn't put it that way.

10. Democrats need to VOTE!
Edited on Sun Sep-25-05 04:49 PM by Pushed To The Left
I did some walking today for the Alliance For A Better California, and I'm about to leave to do some phone banking. What is frustrating is that there are so many Democrats or Independents who are 100% against Schwarzenegger and his ballot measures, but don't seem interested in voting in this election! I think that our hardest challenge as Democrats and progressives is getting like-minded people to participate and vote! Luckily, I also got to talk to some very passionate voters who will be voting against these measures.:)

I just came back from LA a few days ago and hadn't seen any pro-Arnold crap until I got here. The "No" commercials were all I saw in LA

I've noticed they don't have asshole Arnie in them. Proves what a negative he is.
