http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/10/05/BAGNDF2OOL1.DTLNext year's race for California attorney general is taking on a new dimension with word in high-level Republican circles that Pierre-Richard Prosper, a Bush administration war crimes prosecutor, is preparing to announce his candidacy.
Prosper is a political neophyte, and if he runs -- an official announcement would likely come in a week or so, several people with knowledge of the campaign said -- he would face daunting odds. However, he could provide what at least some Republicans have said they would love to see in California: a young, presumably moderate, voice for the party.
Further, Prosper, 42, is black, which some Republicans say could help the party attract more minority voters; Prosper is a protege of his previous boss, former Secretary of State Colin Powell. Prosper's parents, both physicians, immigrated from Haiti.
I can't imagine anyone with ties to the Bushies doing well in the general election out here
I don't care if they're Jesus himself.
Working for Bush just has WAY too much baggage
