I wish they would stop calling.
20 phone calls from political groups yesterday and the phone is ringing again today. I wish the election was already over.

1. No kidding

like that FEC research push poll on the parental notification abortion proposition.

3. I'm screening my calls with my answering machine.
If it's someone I want to talk to then I pick it up. Most of the time the political callers don't leave a message. It's keeping me sane and since I already voted, it's a waste of time to canvass me.

4. they are a hassle, but tracking polls are important...
Edited on Sun Nov-06-05 06:52 PM by bridgit
if you don't contribute to the overall mix, the numbers may appear to be in favor of the opposition which may embolden them to turn out in even greater numbers to solidify what they will then call 'a mandate'. i will give you this...

i can't wait either for Schwarzenegger's bullshit election to be over

7. I've only gotten one call and two
robo calls. I generally try to vote early so I can avoid the calls. Most groups run their final lists a few days before the election so you have to turn your ballot in early to avoid election day calls.

8. WE wouldn't have to annoy people if they would just vote. Try pollwatching
I would suggest trying pollwatching some election.
When you pollwatch for these kinds of things what you do is go down your list of voters who have ALREADY COMMITTED to voting your way and see if they have bothered to vote yet by checking to see if their name has been lined out on the street-index.

If they haven't voted, you go annoy them again (where annoy means ask them if/when they are planning to vote and possibly offering them a ride or to find them a babysitter etc.)

By close of polls I guarentee you that some portion of the list (probably a good portion) will not have voted. I also guarentee you that you will have met some voter who didn't know where the location was (despite having been given it 20 times in the past few weeks etc.) and that you personally will have caused at least a few more voters to get out and vote than would have otherwise.

That's when you see what all the annoying people is really all about and why it is so worthwhile.
