3. Interesting, though
how even Fresno thought redistricting was a bad idea.

4. 'Scuze me
The vast majority of Fresnans are not Freepers.

Thanks so much for encouraging the stereotype and just keep on alienating us. K?

5. Get over it. If you don't want to be compared to freepers, maybe
you ought to put your money where your mouth is and do something about Jim rob or whatever his name is. As long as there is that Fresno address on the Free Republic website, people will associate your town with freepers.

And quite honestly, since the beaches in my area get overrun with people from Fresno on vacation or here for the weekend, it isn't hard to spot the RW bumper stickers and magnets on cars with Fresno license plates. It's more often than not.

9. Pardon me?
There's half a million people in Fresno... they're not all like JimRob. More of the counties in the state are red than blue. Don't go blaming people for their neighbors.

10. Sometimes facts are facts.
I lived in Idaho and there were many liberal people there, but it didn't change the fact that the majority of the people voted against their own best interests and voted Republican. I still live in a district that votes more red that blue and I can't deny it. So trying to change the facts isn't very progressive IMHO.

First of all, I've put in an enormous amount of time and money into fighting the wingers in this town so you know not of what you speak. Second, what exactly do you suggest *I* do with Jim Rob? Last I heard the guy had First Amendment rights the same as you or I. And from what I understand, people from all over the world are members of FreeRepublic. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were some from "your" town.

And before you condemn Fresnans vacationing in "YOUR"(???) town, you might want to count the tourism dollars we bring in. If we're coming in such numbers, I'm sure it's significant. Funny, we welcome tourists in this town as well as the revenue they bring in.

Your statements are utterly elitist and reek of ignorance and classism. How sad for you.

My county--Kern--voted FOR 74, 75, 76

If people blast my county, I join in. Ha!

Seriously, she doesn't mean you personally. Good grief.

Things to be proud of for us outnumbered Dems in the Red Valley=we outnumbered SwartzenFU--ER's supporters at his rallies (our protests). What does that say to you? Furthermore, it's great fun walking around a Valley event with my BuyBlue.org or Kern Democrats T-shirts on--I love to work up the constipated disposition of all those Repugs.

16. I'm just sick to death
of having to battle so-called "liberals." Like we don't have enough of a struggle against stereotyping around here.

Here's something. In the last few years, THOUSANDS of people from the Bay Area, San Jose and Los Angeles have been moving here (our housing boom has been ENORMOUS). If we're such a horrible place, why are they all moving here?

Sorry, rhetorical question.

Umm... San Diego voted the exact same way. I have no problem calling San Diego freeper land because it is. After seeing how San Diego voted I have come to realize I'm living in Freeperville.

11. At least SD got 5 out of 8 right. But we blew it on the mayor's race.

12. Some would argue that it was 3 out of 8...

since the top two we wanted to pass, not bring down. Since those two didn't pass, I'll cut folks here slack on those, but I certainly won't give San Diego "credit" for voting them down as being "progressive".

We really need to campaign to get Loreena Gonzalez to win her runoff to keep a Democrat balance on the City Council to counteract having Sanders as mayor. With Carolyn Chase out now, she should pick up a lot more votes now, and from Donna's earlier comments on PBS, I think Donna would be fully behind her and give her another ally on the council to work with. Hueso's a Dem too, but he has ties to the old folks that got in trouble too. Too bad Remi Bermudez couldn't get a few more votes in to make the runoff. It sounds like Hueso as a Democrat should be the choice in the other district and should have an easier shot at winning there.

13. "the top two we wanted to pass"???
Which 2 propositions did "we" want to pass?

The only one I voted in favor of was prop 79, though I wasn't particularly enthusiastic about it, and not disappointed it lost.

IMHO, all the other propositions were written by right-wingers.

That was my initial analysis of the propositions, Barbara Boxer confirmed it was exactly the way she saw it as well, and so that's how I voted.

I'm the last one who would call SD voters as a whole "progressive". I know we're outnumbered here, but we're growing in numbers and they're not.

I agree with your analysis of the mayor/city council situation, BTW.

14. 79 and 80...
Edited on Fri Nov-11-05 12:41 PM by calipendence
80 was NOT written by right wingers. It was to re-regulate energy. I'm not saying it was was well written as it should be, and certainly I wouldn't call it necessarily bad that it didn't pass here, since it only passed in San Francisco in the state. However, Democratic and other progressive groups though encouraged it's passage. Therefore, I would hardly say that "voting this one down" should be any "progressive feather" in San Diego's cap.

The bottom six (73-78) were the right wing props. And San Diego passed half of them. And 78 going down doesn't probably bother the pharma companies or other right wingers anyway. It was only a "do nothing" voluntary prop that was there to beat out 79 should both measures have passed. The pharma companies won by having both 78 and 79 voted down.

The only significant RW props that San Diego voted down were 76 and 77.
