Alpine County (almost) votes Like San Francisco! Strange!!

Does anyone know or can hazard a guess as to why tiny Alpine County, surrounded by Red State Counties, voted against Arnold on everything? It even voted for Proposition 79, unlike the supposedly more liberal counties of San Mateo and Santa Cruz. The only difference between the way it voted and the way San Francisco voted is that it rejected proposition 80. It provided a hefty measure of victory for NO on 73.

According to the Sec of State's info there are only 810 registered voters in Alpine County, and about 500 of them cast votes yesterday. Percentage points move around quite easily with so few in the number.

3. Isn't that strange

When I looked at the breakdown by counties I just couldn't believe it. I lived in Alpine for quite some time, I'm sorry to say Alpine is freeper heaven. Alpine is beautiful but it is also home to some of the radical right (klan, some skinheads). You know what really got me? Alpine voted down prop 73 while San Diego county voted for prop 73. I just don't get it, out of all the counties I expected Alpine to vote for 73 for sure. I'm glad I didn't place a bet on it because I was positive that one would be voted for in Alpine. San Diego disappointed me while Alpine surprised the hell out of me.

5. The freepers there don't vote.

Most of the people there live in the boonies, too far from a polling place to bother voting. Since Alpine county is tied to the Nevada economy more than the California one (they're very isolated from the rest of the state by the mountains, and get practically no tourists), there just isn't much Republican interest there in this states politics. The freepers there tend to be more of the "Just leave me the hell alone" variety.

Because of that, most of the voters in Alpine County come from the communes, which are liberal.

6. I too was watching all through the very first votes counted in Alpine

as the night wore on I was more blown away...
