Dec 14: Duncan Hunter's office: rally to bring troops home! (MoveOn)
MoveOn is organizing BRING THE TROOPS HOW NOW!, a peace rally/candlelight vigil at Congressman Duncan Hunter's office on Wednesday, December 14th at 3:30 p.m. The address is 1870 Cordell Court, El Cajon, CA 92020.

Last week, MoveOn ran TV ads on CNN in Hunter's district revealing how he continues to support the war despite evidence that President Bush misled Americans and Congress regarding intelligence used to justify the invasion of Iraq.

As Chair of the House Armed Services Committee, Hunter wields a powerful influence. He was instrumental in presenting intelligence evidence that persuaded Congress to authorize the President to wage war. Hunter is a staunch supporter of the war. He's also been labeled a war profiteer. During the past 5 years, Hunter has raked in a quarter of a million dollars in campaign contributions from missile defense contractors--far more money than Duke Cunningham ever dreamed of! Many of his campaign donors have landed lucrative contracts in Iraq. Most notoriously, his biggest donor, Titan, has been implicated in the Abu Ghraib prison scandal. (A Titan employee was even photographed with the infamous naked pyramid of prisoners!) Yet Hunter denies that torture occurs and blocked investigations into the torture.

Democrats running against Hunter plan to speak at the vigil. Karen Marie Otter, an Army veteran, will address Hunter's financial conflicts of interest. Rev. Peter Moore-Kochlacs will discuss the moral and ethical issues surrounding Hunter's support for the Iraq War.

A petition will also be delivered to Hunter's staff calling on him to bring our troops home.

Bring: Signs and candles

For those of you who live outside of Hunter's District, please remember that folks in East County have traveled to many events in San Diego and North County to support causes such as Donna Frye's campaign, peace rallies, and protests against Duke Cunningham. Constitutents of Hunter's would greatly appreciate your reciprocity at this critical time!

If you can't come, please call Hunter's offfice at 619-448-5201 and ask him to bring our troops home!

1. Good going! Hunter will probably burst a blood vessel

2. Article coming Thurs. on the rally & Duncan's financial dealings,
which have a lot in common with his pal, Duke Cunningham.

Check the East County Californian for details.
