What are the Democrats doing to
Reach out to voters in places like Modesto, Stockton, Redding, and Fresno. They are the fastest growing regions and I think they are dominated by Republicans. Any ideas?

1. Fast growth doesn't equal increasing Republican base
My city was once 97% Regressives and now it's 64% Regressives. A lot of Democrats moved into the area during
its growth spurt.

2. o
well i've noticed that it has been voting Gop in places like bakersfield and modesto in the last couple of elections. if you look at the last pres election it was almost every coastal county blue and every inland county red. Thats all.

3. true, but that's the natural trend - water=blue, landlocked=red
Lancaster is decidedly inland (high desert) and now purplish. There are trends toward blue, away from red.

San Diego has a lot of red, too, and they're coastal.

6. exurbanites want good schools--any chance of GOP doing that?
With their budget priorities, antagonism toward teachers unions, and testing snake oil?

8. In Fresno
we find ourselves in a bit of a catch 22. we need some help to get things up and running and the state party wants to see us hit certain benchmarks before they give us some help. I can see both sides and there is a batch of us that are putting in some work. The Alliance last month split fresno county on the 4 props they opposed and the biggest yes vote was an 11% margin. this is good news because Fresno county voted 58% for W. we are doing door knocking and voter registration and there are some good people trying to unify the different facets and stop the sibling rivalries. there are some good candidates that will be challenging incumbent congressmen. we have been successful getting an Air America affiliate. we are posting in the letters to the editor. we are trying to do some regional networking our central committee has put a web site together http//www.democraticpartyfresnocounty.org that is also listed on the state party site. the problem is that about 100 busy people have to pick and choose small projects when looking at a million person county and geographically one of the bigger counties in the state. as always we have an open invitation to any sincere people that are willing to help.

9. Don't forget Los Angeles County
Sure, it may be "blue," but all the conservative immigrant influx has turned places like Lancaster, Diamond Bar, and Whittier-La Mirada red.

I am in Diamond Bar, and nothing is being done about the immigrant red tide here. All I ever get is the "politically correct" turnaround, that immigrants tend to vote blue. NOT TRUE HERE!
