24. I guess I'm in the "central" county..not sure where Irvine falls.
Irvine is sometimes grouped with south county, sometimes with costa mesa/santa ana. I think it has things in common with both. I work in Santa Ana.

South of Irvine, down in Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo is where it can be really scary! (Then again, north county has its pockets, too...like Westminster and Brea.)

I vote Democrat, but honestly I'm just a bit further to the Left. Figure that I began protesting the war in Viet Nam in 1965. OK, so my views make Dennis Kucinich look like a Moderate, politics is about RESULTS. I'll support the most reasonable person, who has a chance of winning. :)

56. Good to see you, too, MaRadix
I was away last weekend at the March on Washington with my daughter, so I've missed a lot of whatever was going on here at DU. Thanks to cell-phones we caught up with my sister, who bussed in from Boston, and we marched as a family unit.

I don't do jet-lag at all well anymore, but I am SO glad we went. Being with a million-plus pro-choice people all at once is a staggering experience. I heard that CSPAN didn't cover it, and if so I can't imagine why not. However, Bill Moyers NOW had a segment tonight on the Religious Pro-Choice Coalition that was thoroughly represented at the March. (I saw that myself from the myriad banners and T-shirts.) He handled it very well--periodically Bill likes to point out that the religious right-wing does not speak for all people of faith by a long shot.

Glad to be back home -- see you soon.

Hekate

37. Glad to be here...
I'm in the No. Bay where the grass is greener and the water is purer and the potholes are bigger.

California needs more attention than it's been getting from the Democratic political machine. Our electoral votes are coveted so why aren't they making more noise here?

I just don't think we should be taken for granted. It's a big state so they'll have to work harder if they want to attract new voters and get more people to register as Democrats.

Not that I hang out especially with teenyboppers, but one hears things and some of the old Valleyisms still totally persist. Then again, Valspeak spread across the USA throughout the '80s and into the '90s and I heard pretty much the same flavor of talk (with a few word substitutions as Clueless-era expressions infiltrated the form) when I lived in the South for part of that time. Fer shur!
