CA SEP-20-2004-1834 Missing Womans Boyfriend Vanishes

Missing Woman's Boyfriend Vanishes - CA
POSTED: 6:34 p.m. PDT September 20, 2004

BAKERSFIELD -- Police are looking for the boyfriend of a Deja Vu dancer that has been missing for two weeks. Azita Nikooei, 28, was last since at The Marketplace with her boyfriend, Nathan Mowers.

Mowers made a public plea for help to find her. But police now say Mowers has vanished. Officials say they have not been able to locate Mowers since last Thursday. Nikooei, an exotic dancer at Deja Vu, never showed up to pick up her son in Fresno on Sept. 6.

Mowers told 23 News before his disappearance that they sat in an area near Baja Fresh, and then she left to see her son. No one has seen Mowers, his 2005 Mercedes or his dog.

Last Friday police served a search warrant at the home Mowers and Nikooei lived. Police are not saying what was taken from the home, however they did confiscate Mowers' BMW. Police found Nikooei's Nissan Pathfinder abandoned in the Northwest parking lot of The Marketplace five days after she vanished.

What is the point of my post, you may ask, since it so clearly seems not to be political, and thus not really DU material in any way, shape, or form?

What is the point of ANY post, but to inform and/ or create discussion. Missing persons deserve as much democratic consideration and justice as any other person.

Personally, I think they deserve it more so, because their voices (unless they are a young white college kid or white clean-cut mostly female rich person - for example, Smart, Sjodin, Levy, Peterson, Hacking etc.) are rarely heard from or written about or acknowledged in any way shape or form.

Do you know how many persons went missing in California at about the same time as Laci Peterson? Two that I know of specifically. One was hispanic (and also pregnant and also found murdered not too long AFTER Laci) and another was a prostitute, but guess which was talked about incessantly by the media?

And finally, missing persons and serial killers are an example of why the budgets of LE (both here in the U.S and abroad) should be raised (and NOT just for homeland security) which is A VERY POLITICAL subject - in my opinion,

Nathan Mowers, a witness wanted by Bakersfield police in connection with the Sept. 6 disappearance of his fiancee, was arrested in Wisconsin on Thursday, police reported. State troopers arrested Mowers, 31, on undisclosed weapons violations, Bakersfield police reported Friday. He was stopped in Monroe County, which is in a rural area in the west and central part of the state, officers said.

Bakersfield police detectives traveled to Wisconsin to interview him Friday, but police didn't say what happened, Detective George Gomez said. Mowers, a part-time salesman for New York Life Insurance, was stopped sometime Thursday driving a 2005 Mercedes Benz that is registered to both himself and Azita Nikooei, 29.

He reported her missing Sept. 6 after she failed to show up at the Tulare Police Department to pick up her 6-year-old son after the boy's visit with his father. In the next few days, Mowers handed out fliers at The Marketplace -- the last place he said he saw her on the afternoon of Sept. 6 -- asking the public to help find her. But on Sept. 16, he, too, disappeared along with the Mercedes and his boxer dog. The dog was with him in Wisconsin.

Nokooei has been working for about a year as a dancer at Deja Vu.
