House Democrats say Schwarzenegger hasn't delivered federal funds

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Democrats in California's congressional delegation sent a letter to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Wednesday complaining that a year after his election, he hasn't delivered on his promise to bring more federal funds to the state.
"No responses, no meetings, no actions. My colleagues and I are perplexed by your silence," said the letter signed by Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-San Jose, chairwoman of the state's 33-member Democratic delegation.
"Gov. Schwarzenegger, you have made a point of declaring yourself the 'Collectinator,' but there are billions of dollars that we have brought to your attention that you have yet to collect."
Schwarzenegger spokesman H.D. Palmer disputed the Democrats' claims, contending the Republican governor has brought in some $800 million in new federal funds since his election on Oct. 7, 2003. The money includes $340 million for in-home support services for low-income elderly and disabled residents, and a waiver of $175 million in penalties after improving the error rate in handing out food stamps, Palmer said
