TO DOOLITTLE, OR NOT DOOLITTLE...THAT IS THE QUESTION
Charlie Brown For Congress, CA District 4
https://www.charliebrownforcongress.org/index.php

I received the following email today, if you live in District 4 please consider donating to, or volunteering for his campaign. Thanks!

Over the course of the past week, hundreds of you have answered the call to help us get our three new satellite offices up and running. Thank you!

With just 6 days remaining before the critical June 30th FEC Deadline, we are more than halfway to our $40,000 Goal. Remember, your support will have an immediate impact on our ability to personally contact more than half a million voters in the next four and a half months. And that could make all the difference come November.

Events this past week demonstrate the clear choice in this race-- between a career military officer who solves problems and a career politician who's part of the problem.

For example--when asked his opinion on warrantless wiretapping of American citizens, Southern California politician Tom McClintock said, "I don't know."

By contrast, having flown surveillance missions and worked for National Security Agency (NSA), Charlie took a principled stand for America's security and the freedoms that generations of servicemen and women have fought and died to protect.

The next Congress will face important choices on the war in Iraq, the economy, energy independence and so many other issues. But in the end, the choice confronting voters is clear---change versus more of the same.

That said, you'd think the easiest choice facing candidates in the 4th CD race would be whether or not to campaign with disgraced Congressman John Doolittle. Think again.

In the span of one week, the McClintock campaign has flip-flopped three times (that's six different answers to you and me) to this simple question. But then again, that's what career politicians do.

Tom McClintock may not know where he stands, but you can show Tom McClintock that we will not stand for more Doolittle politics in District 4 right now.

Leadership is about bringing people together, taking on the tough missions, making tough choices, and delivering results.

These are the principles that have guided Charlie Brown's life. And with your continued support, they will be the hallmarks of our next Congressman---a battle tested leader who we can depend on to get our country back on track.

And together, we will.

Thank you again for standing with us at this critical time.

Sincerely,

Todd Stenhouse

Campaign Manager

PS - For a little fun, here are McClintock's quotes. Feel free to forward them on to friends or contribute now to show Tom where you stand.

TO DOOLITTLE, OR NOT DOOLITTLE...THAT IS THE QUESTION

"We're talking about doing a couple of events and we're putting them together," said Doolittle spokesman Dan Blankeburg....Stan Devereux, a spokesman for McClintock, confirmed that the campaign had set up a meeting to discuss Doolittle's support for McClintock."--June 16, 2008, PolitickerCA.

"If you're running as an outsider why would you want anyone's endorsement?" asked John Feliz, a McClintock consultant, when asked if the campaign would be receiving Doolittle's stamp of approval." June 17, 2008, PolitickerCA.

McClintock spokesman Stan Devereux told Election Central that the ongoing investigations against Doolittle would not render him a political liability: "Doolittle is still the congressman for the area, has served the district well." June 18, 2008 Talking Points Memo.

"'I don't have any plans to meet with Doolittle next week and I don't have any plans to campaign with Doolittle," McClintock said by phone from Sacramento.'"-June 20, 2008, Roll Call (Subscription Required).

"Fourth Congressional District Republican nominee Tom McClintock will meet with Rep. John Doolittle, R-Rocklin, next week to discuss his campaign, a Doolittle spokesman said Wednesday...he (McClintock) said, ...'I certainly do welcome the intimate knowledge Doolittle has with the district...' ...The meeting is planned for June 27." June 22nd 2008, El Dorado Mt. Democrat.

"State Sen. Tom McClintock (R), running for the 4th district seat being vacated by Rep. John Doolittle (R), said Tuesday that he personally killed a meeting between him and the Congressman," June 25, 2008, Roll Call (Subscription Required).

Charlie has dedicated his life to taking action, and leading by example. That's why he is donating 5% of campaign contributions to non-profit organizations serving veterans and families in need in the 4th District, and around the country.

Thank you for your support. It makes all the difference.

For PAC contributions, please call (916) 78-BROWN (782-7696).

1. Charlie is going to be in our 4th of July parade
again in Auburn. When some Brown supporters came up to visit to discuss decorating the float I heard the following gossip: There will be a republicans for Brown group starting up, when McClintock announced only about 30 people showed up at the courthouse, (as opposed to around 300 in Auburn alone for Brown). They were mostly city workers, cops and campaign people (one of the Brown people went to see who was there) and there is not a lot of support for him with the local rethugs. Also on a sadder note, Brown gets calls from returning Iraqi veterans EVERY DAY asking for help and relaying some very sad stories. Also a local rethug Supervisor has come out for Brown. I will have a better feel for how the community feels after the parade and what kind of reception we get. It is now or never for our district and anyone who wants to help, must. I think we can flip this district.

2. I'm so hopeful Charlie can win...I think even the Republics
here realize that they've been used over and over - their votes completely taken for granted.

Doolittle, and what a perfect name, hasn't accomplished one noticeable thing in all his years in Washington, with the exception of accomplishing corruption.

He's one of the worst politicians in California history.

Charlie came so close last time.

COME ON PLACER COUNTY DUERS!!! :bounce:

3. Not just Placer County...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California%27s_4th_congressional_district
California's 4th congressional district covers the northeastern corner of California along Route 395, covering El Dorado, Placer, Nevada, Sierra, Plumas, Lassen, and Modoc Counties, part of Butte County including Oroville, and a small portion of Sacramento County including Orangevale. The district is currently represented by Republican John Doolittle, who has represented the district since 1991. Republicans have 48 percent of voter registrations; Democrats have 30 percent and the Libertarians hold roughly 5 percent.

It's the whole, very conservative SE corner of the state! Which makes Charlie almost winning last time so amazing, and why it's still going to be a tough fight!

COME ON DISTRICT 4 DUERS! :bounce:

Of course I meant, above, the NE corner of the state.

I'd like to thank the Universe for no one taunting me mercilessly over that. :dunce:

BTW - have you donated to or volunteered for Charlie lately? http://www.charliebrownforcongress.org http://www.charliebrownforcongress.org/ :bounce:

6. Placer also is the problem county.
The bulk of the fundies and rethugs live here. The other counties, not so much. Orangevale I consider more Sacramentoish, a little more cosmopolitan, and not as grossly rethug, but that's just me.

7. It's the entire rural area
In District 4, Republicans have 48 percent of voter registrations; Democrats have only 30 percent and the Libertarians hold roughly 5 percent. I'm in El Dorado county, which extends from just outside Folsom up to Lake Tahoe. Very, very conservative area. I think we follow the standard demographics, where the farther you get from metropolitan areas, the more conservative the population.

Thanks for the kick, go Charlie! www.charliebrownforcongress.org
