What will happen if Prop 8 passes?

I mean, hundreds, if not thousands of couples already got married, will their marriages be nullified?

How do we go about retrieving the marriage right for everyone?

What is our next step?

2. Can a new proposition be placed before the voters in a year or two?

It's only a matter of time before the majority accepts same-sex marriage. I think that if this proposition had come along a year from now, it would have failed. Unfortunately, not enough time has passed since same-sex marriage became legal in California, and I guess the idea of it still makes a lot of people freak out.

3. the pro 8 campaign was also very ugly and full of lies

claiming people's church's would be forced to marry gay couples and other things involving kids.

15. Their ads were ridiculous!

In one ad, our State Superintendent of Schools, Jack O'Connell

was a " liberal educator".

In their next ad, he was a " liberal POLITICIAN"- WTH?!?

They made this crap us as they went along!

We have to get 'truth in advertising' laws for campaigns and campaign ads.

It would cut out all the BS, and make it easier for voters to understand what
the hell they were voting for or against.

This is a state constitutional amendment, the USSC doesn't generally like to meddle with those unless they blatantly interfere with Federal laws/constitution. Sadly I don't see 8 going there. I still cross my fingers and hope it fails, but it's basically 2000 all over again. Thanks a bundle LDS bastards. Time to make you pay property taxes on the huge mansion in Oakland hills.

It used to be illegal for mixed heterosexual couples to marry in many states back in the day, and those where state laws on the books. And yet eventually the USSC struck them down as unconstitutional. I think the same principle can be applied here, but it would be nice if one or two of the rightwing Justices had to step down from the bench for health reasons or something (not that I wish harm to anyone) so that President Obama can put in new ones that would vote to strike these hateful state laws down.

1. There will be some scuffles in the streets, maybe a few police cars torched;

2. Same-sex marriage proponents will take the case back to the courts. The state Supreme Court will immediately invalidate Proposition 11 because it conflicts with established parts of the constitution;

3. Opponents of same-sex marriage will initiate a recall of the SC justices who went against them.
