Did anyone have machine problems yesterday -- that you know of?
I mail or walk my ballot in, so I never get to see what's happening on the ground?

Anyone hear of anything?

1. I early voted. Didn't see much signifigant.
I think the worst thing I saw while voting was the black pens leaving the booths (I took mine with me by accident when I went to turn my ballot in). And if that's the worst that happens then it's clear that our paper ballot system is the way to go.

2. The tabulators are easy to stack and our audits aren't big enough.
The chain of ballot problem can also be a problem. Better than touchscreens but not good enough yet.

One of the ways they tried to fix Ohio in 2004 was to insert fake ballots into the recount of OpScan machines. And they were only caught by accident.

4. We just need a 100% hand count.
We need a 100% hand count, once by a repub group, once by a dem group, and once by a non-partisan group. That's the only way to be sure. They can still do the original electronically in that case for fast results, so long as it requires 100% hand counts to certify.

3. I had to put the second page of my ballot into the scanner twice.
The first time it said "no reverse side detected" though I'd voted both sides of my ballot. Though it did kick it back to me, rather than just eating it minus a bunch of votes. Second time it went through fine.

Computers. :eyes:
