That home invasion in San Mateo happened on my sister in law's block.
(They called it a home invasion but the perp was stalking Nguyen apparently so it wasn't random. Still, scary. His car had been seen in the neighborhood. My nieces are there half time.)

San Mateo Home Intruder Stalked Victim, Police Say
CBS 5 CrimeWatch
SAN MATEO (CBS 5 / KCBS / BCN) ― A mother and a gunman who died following a shootout involving officers at a San Mateo home Tuesday appear to have been killed in a murder-suicide, police said Wednesday.

Speaking at a news conference Wednesday afternoon, San Mateo Police Chief Susan Manheimer announced that preliminary reports from the county coroner have revealed that 24-year-old Loan Kim Nguyen was killed by the gunfire of Raymond Gee, 22, of Oakland, as he opened fire on Nguyen while she lowered her two children to officers at her home at 29 Hobart Ave.

Gee, who had allegedly waited outside Nguyen's home for her husband to leave for work, was found dead inside a rear bedroom of the home with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Gee's death was preliminarily ruled a suicide, police said.

Investigators believe that Lee was a stalker, and that he had pursued Nguyen through the Internet before Tuesday's chain of events, which began when Nguyen's husband contacted police shortly after 9:30 a.m. to report that she had sent him a text message about being robbed at gunpoint.

2. The young mom died getting her kids clear, apparently.
She handed them out a window to the police. She was only 24.

4. I wonder if she knew she was even being stalked?

5. She met him on the internet.
It's hard to believe if she knew she as being stalked that her husband would have left a garage door partially open. Or, because stalking can take many forms, maybe she didn't think he'd come to her home.

My mom was in the neighborhood yesterday. The house is boarded up now. So sad.
