Any California State Government workers here?
It looks like Schwarzenegger has bypassed the California legislature and will us all an 8.5% pay cut starting in February, or even the chance of being laid off in a recession:

Given the choice between taxing the ueber-rich, or having people get laid off, today's Republicans will choose the lay-offs every time. I really regret that there are no more Eisenhower Republicans for the most part (yes, I know about Susan Eisenhower).

1. no, but i know of several
and i believe it's a 10% cut (2 days). the messed up thing about all of it is that this cut will only be a drop in the bucket. state payroll is only 17% of the state budget! all he knows how to do is posture. and you know that there are state workers who voted for this ass - twice even! it never even occured to me to vote for him, the recall was a sham to cover up the enron theft.

2. I hope Jerry Brown runs for Governor again
he'll get the shop in order FAST!

I cannot stand the groper! He sickens me.

I know of many State workers that voted for him because they wanted the cost of the tags on their cars to go down. I bet they are wishing they had not voted for him now.

The whole thing is a sickening mess. CSEA is doing their best to fight him (the Union).

I am a retired annuitant and I still voluntarily pay union dues.

I read that a letter is making the rounds and it is a hoax.

I don't know what else to say about this without going off the deep end so I'll refrain.

3. I am, but so far I'm not subject to the governor's order....

Interestingly, I just received this email from the California State University chancellor:

The furloughs and layoffs apply only to state civil service employees under the State Employer-Employee Relations Act (The Dills Act). CSU employment is governed instead by the Higher Education Employer-Employees Relations Act. The CSU is not subject to the governor’s direct executive authority and we do not plan to institute furloughs as called for by the governor’s executive order.

4. My SO is,
and they have already announced the work furloughs
for February.

It's very tense, as we don't what will happen next.

My anger at the State Senate Repubs knows no bounds.

They really don't give a good damn about the people
of CA, refuse to pass any budget that includes the
slightest tax increase, want to cut programs that
help the disabled, poor and elderly instead--

CAN WE GET RID OF THE 2/3 MAJORITY needed to
pass legislation and a balanced budget in the CA Senate?!?

These self serving jerks have us, the people of CA
in a stranglehold every damn year!!
