Flying to LA this summer
I'm trying to get to Long Beach for our cruise and was wondering if flying to Long Beach is a better alternative than flying to LAX (Frontier can fly there non-stop from Denver). We need to get to Long Beach Pier, so if anyone knows the area, and the taxi ride costs, it would help us plan for the flight.

Thanks!

David

1. Usually the cruise shuttles are easy to get from either LAX or Long Beach

and LAX isn't that far from the port anyway.

the advantage to flying into Long Beach is that it's closer and also, Jet Blue flies there.

2. If you like small settings that are hassle-free, Long Beach
is your best bet. I love that airport--art deco decor reminiscent of Casablanca. And very close to attractions in Long Beach. LAX is one big hassle which I avoid at all costs. They do have stairs to/from the planes if that bothers you. Don't know about transportation, but all the shuttle companies go to Long Beach.

3. David, check Cruise Critics out ...
They have tons of information from experienced cruisers. I've only cruised on RCI out of the port of Los Angeles and San Diego, so no experience here.

Here's their west coast departure board that discusses all that info:

Happy cruising!!

4. flying in/out of Long Beach is a dream compared to LAX
I've never had more than 5 people ahead of me in the security line! It is a cool little airport - I highly recommend it.
