The Rush To 'MoveOn' - from San Francisco to a foreign land

The Rush To 'MoveOn'
Flee to Canada or Spain, or try a cheaper foreign land -- a red state.

by Carol Lloyd, special to SF Gate

Friday, November 12, 2004

Wednesday morning outside our house, the mother of our daughter's classmate pauses on the way to drop her child off at preschool. The typically ebullient woman has dark circles under her eyes. My husband says something about leaving the country.

"Hong Kong," she says, not missing a beat.

Another mom strolls by with toddlers in tow and says, "I was thinking New Zealand."

"We're considering Spain," says a dad as he unstraps his son from his stroller.

At that moment, our next-door neighbor, a retired cable-car driver, emerges from his house. There's no way he could have heard the conversation, but it's as if he did.

"How are you doing, Bill?" I ask.

"I'm so depressed, I'm moving to Amsterdam."

2. saw that site
I wonder how long they'd last without our innovation, creativity and intelligence.

They'd be selling rocks on street corners to throw at each other.

6. It's easier to move to OH or FL
It has been my theory all along that if all you pissed off Dems move to Ohio and Florida, we could easily take back our country.

For those of you in LA and SF: you could buy 3-4 houses for the price of 1 in the city. Not kidding. A colleague of mine moved from LA with her spouse to Kern County. They profited enough to buy THREE homes in Bakersfield, CA. The other 2 homes are now investment properties, and they are yound kids in their late 20s. Bakersfield Real Estate prices mirror Ohio and FL rural areas. You could get a huge 2-story house with a sweet 30 minute commute into the city. Think it over. SF and LA can afford to lose enough folks to give us Dems the 2-5% bump we need in Ohio and FL.

7. Ohio? Most of Us Would Die of Boredom if the Freepers Didn't Kill Us First
Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 03:22 AM by AndyTiedye
Besides that, what part of They Stole the Election don't you understand?
It doesn't matter how many Democrats move into a state where the
Republicans are counting the votes. One thing we did learn this
year is that you can't beat theft with turnout, because they can
always steal more votes.

Ohio and Florida have fallen to the Dominion, along with most of
the Bible Belt. They only pretend to have elections there now.

Unless we can expose the theft, we're done.

8. Screw Jesusland, it's time to secede.
I'm ready to work with anyone who wants to take Califronia OUT of the C.S.A. (you know what the C stands for...)

Stick Jesusland with the debt and let them sink. Let's go!

12. Finally, someone says what I've been thinking for years
Last time anyone tried to secede, it didn't work too well though.

However, a couple things have changed since then. For one, the U.S. has supported breaking up several countries that didn't want to stay together any more--Soviet Union comes to mind. On the other hand, hypocrisy doesn't phase them.

Second, they might be happy to have us go. I've been thinking that the Jesusland freaks may have been plotting for a long time to get the northeast and west coast to leave. 150 years ago we wouldn't let them leave, but if they can get all us to leave, they accomplish the same thing and everyone is happy.

Someone on an email list I'm on said something to the effect that when California joined the U.S., part of the agreement was that Calif could secede any time it wanted. Anyone know anything about that?

14. Ironic that any progressives would want to leave SF
Where 8 out of every 10 people voted for Kerry and we nearly elected a Green mayor last year.
