"Traditional Values Coalition" & its new amendment.
http://www.traditionalvalues.org/modules.php?sid=2047

Apparently, this vile organization got Haynes and a state senator to sponsor this hateful amendment in both the state assembly and the state senate respectively.

Besides that insipid definition of 'marriage' (hate) being enshrined in our state constitution, this POS seeks to make domestic partnerships illegal.

I need to know the org. to contribute to - we need to fight this tooth and nail effectively. I'm guessing this won't be the HRC (which I just joined, but who is now offering to compromise social security in order to get Rethuglicans on their side).

This 46-year-old hetero, married mom wants to support her GLBT friends and fight this tooth and nail. Ideas? Equality California?

1. How about GLAD?
Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders:

They kick ass!

Founded in 1978, Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) is New England’s leading legal rights organization dedicated to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation, HIV status and gender identity and expression. Providing litigation, advocacy, and educational work in all areas of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender civil rights and the rights of people living with HIV, GLAD has a full-time legal staff and a network of cooperating attorneys across New England.

When we go to court, we go there to win. But regardless of the outcome, each time we argue a case, we make a statement that chips away at outdated laws, challenges stereotypes, and helps further our cause: to ensure equal justice under law for all.

The commitment to individual dignity and freedom is an intrinsic part of the American experience, yet for many of us, the way we are treated by society reflects a very different reality. Embarking on its 25th year, GLAD has sought to create an American society true to its founding principles that all people are created equal and endowed with certain inalienable rights.

Find out more about GLAD's work and history by checking out the links below:

2. Hmmm...interesting idea. Thanks.
But who is going to spearhead the anti-discrimination effort in California - this org. only operates in New England, doesn't it?

Anyone know if Equality California just cooperates with the HRC or is its parent org the HRC?
