so far the cast of characters include his widow, lobbyist Doris Matsui; former Assemblyman Darryl Steinberg; state Sen. Deborah Ortiz, Sacramento County Supervisor Roger Dickinson, newly elected Assemblyman Dave Jones and former county Supervisor Grantland Johnson

can anyone in Sacramento give their impressions?

2. Odds on favorite is Doris Matsui

She was the brains of the union, yet she leans a little too far to the right for a lot of people. Rumor on the street is that Robert wanted to retire because of his illness but Doris insisted he continue so she could assume his seat - a la Sonny Bono.
