Everyone send DIFI this letter BEFORE THE VOTE

AGREEMENT NOT TO RUN FOR RE-ELECTION - TO BE SENT TO THOSE CONSIDERING NOT BLOCKING THE NOMINATION OF CONDOLEEZZA RICE.

I _______________(name of Senator) from the State of ______________(name of state) agree not to run for re-election. Through my failure to oppose the nomination of Condoleezza Rice, I have demonstrated that I lack the intelligence and integrity needed to represent the people of my state. When Condoleezza Rice saw a memo titled "Bin Laden Determined To Attack Inside the United States" prior to 9/11, it did not occur to her that Bin Laden was determined to attack inside the United States. Now, though I may have also lacked the intelligence to make that connection, there are a great many other Americans who do have the intelligence to make that connection who are eligible to become Secretary of State. Ms. Rice helped lead the charge to war with two countries who were less responsible for 9/11 than the incompetence of Ms. Rice. She worked to make the whole world hate us. As a result of the actions of Ms. Rice, Americans are in more danger now than ever before. If Ms. Rice continues this pattern as Secretary of State, the future of all Americans will be in grave danger. I lack the concern for the American people and the integrity to block this nomination and demand we do better. In failing to block this incompetent war-monger of African American origin, I am also demonstrating my racist belief that the best African-American for the job is a stupid war-mongerer and that we can find no better African-American for the job. In conclusion, I will never again run for public office because I am a stupid, gullible Senator who has no concern for the welfare of my constituents or the American people.

1. If the form was 'user friendly' you would have many more.
I already sent out 4 similar ones.

I suggest that you 'edit it' and request that it be Faxed.

2. !
That is a remarkably incompentant letter. First, no paragraphs? Second, (and I quote)... "I lack the concern"? And third, what the hell does the fact that she is African American have to do with her being unfit for the job?

Funny that, until now, the only time I have heard her ethnicity brought up in relation to her qualifications, is by the right wing in a feeble attempt to make Democrats feel guilty about their criticism of her.

The letter is clumsy. I do not trust it.

3. While noble in thought
the reality is any message that is threating or sarcastic in tone will not be given credence or attention by people of the United States Senate.

This is not to say your points are not valid; they are valid. This is not to say cooperation and respectful tones have achieved any results; they haven't. But this letter you have composed will not gain any senatorial votes, and I think that is what you actually want to do.

Here is a portion of what I wrote and faxed:

I respectfully urge you to stand against the conformation of Dr. Condoleezza Rice as Secretary of State.

As we begin an era of unprecedented need for global cooperation it would be reckless irresponsibility to confirm someone with an international reputation for unrepentant falsehood as top diplomat for the United States. Regardless of her past accomplishments, accolades, or personal merit, Dr. Rice's many misstatements, her continued defense of the mistakes of her administration, and her repeated poor performance under pressure on Capitol Hill prove her to be unsuitable for a diplomatic position, much less the highest diplomatic position in the land.

World opinion of the United States is at an all time low. The international press shows President Bush's inaugural speech - while patriotic in its reverence of liberty and freedom - is being viewed as a veiled threat not just by those countries that conspire against us, but by our allies as well. It is clear that out of the many methods of charm and persuasion necessary to be a successful diplomat and win the support and cooperation of other nations Dr. Rice carries but one: fear of the retaliation of President Bush.

4. stupid letter
the letter is too meandering and loses it's focus after the 8th line.

And bringing up issues of race totally dessimates any seriousness when seriousness and focus are needed to get through to this woman.
