I need arguments against the redistricting initiative.
These need to be well-reasoned arguments based on the actual language of the initiative.

Our DFA chapter is presenting the "pros" and "cons"; I'm assigned to handle the "con" side.

evidently GAS is retreating from the redistricting crap. That can only mean petitions R not being signed.

This is what I tell people

The next redistricting is scheduled for 2010. We are halfway 2 that now. If we waste $70 million+ on a special election, which the state cannot afford; where is the money 2 pay 4 a special census? A special election - $70+ million - cha-ching; plus the cost $?? million of a special census - cha-ching = cannot afford it. Plus the initiative restores the 2010 regular census 2 accomplish the next redistricting cycle. So we R spening tons of $$$$$ because GAS wants 2 change the rules for 2 years? He needs 2 stop listening 2 saurove. damn girlie-man rove-bot.

Found it... http://www.laweekly.com/ink/05/22/news-bradley.php
"...The reapportionment initiative is also on the dealing block, with the governor now said to be content to have redistricting done by an independent panel after the 2010 Census (which Democrats are agreeable to), rather than mid-decade as he originally demanded after his embarrassment in last November’s election, in which he failed to take any Democratic legislative seats. The reality, as some insiders admitted weeks ago, is that it would have been impossible to do any new redistricting before 2008, and reapportionment was always the least-popular issue in Schwarzenegger’s “reform” basket.'....

'least popular' huh? Then why pay signature pimps $5/signature? He's in trouble and they're trying 2 put up a 'don't give a shit' front. Good article BTW.

5. Texas
just point to GOP shenanigans there.

If it wasn't a blatant attempt to undermine democracy, the lengths they went to there were almost comical.

And Arnold is playing by the same script written by the same people.

Commercials should show him, Delay, and Bush mouthing the same lies and bullying.

6. it could very well violate federal laws
since some counties are still under federal mandate to make sure that the voting rights of minorities aren't violated
