Schwarzenegger's rating drops sharply
Just as Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger prepares to sell a reduced "reform" agenda to voters, a newly released statewide poll shows the Republican governor's popularity has plummeted.

1. I am from California
and the only way he got in was because of a special recall election against davis

The morans in California who voted for schwarenegger, and now don't like him, represent the same idiots who voted for *, and no don't like what he is doing

In both cases, especially for bush, they knew who they were before they voted them in. Now everyone will pay for the consequences of their actions

5. In defense of Californians

I think your analysis makes it simpler than it really is.

Schwarzenegger did a lot better in California in October 2003 than the Frat Boy did in November 2004. Arnold won the recall rather easily; Kerry carried California even more easily.

Most people who voted for Schwarzenegger in the first election voted for Bush in the second. However, there were a considerable number who voted for Schwarzenegger who also voted for Kerry.

Let's be honest about something: even if he deserved better than he got, Gray Davis was a flop. I voted against the recall because I believe that in our form of government, the chief executive should not be removed from office except under extraordinary circumstances that did not exist in October 2003. By extraordinary circumstances, I mean something really criminal or just short of it. No one during the recall campaign seriously suggested that Gray Davis should go to prison for anything.

That doesn't mean things were going well. They weren't. If we had a parliamentary form of government and the recall were a kind of popular vote of confidence in the leader, then I might very well have voted Davis out. Perhaps I didn't see the recall that way, but most people did.

That, in turn, does not mean I would have voted for Arnold. I saw the televised gubernatorial debate and he was easily the least impressive of the five candidates on the stage. Ideologically, I would have more problems with Senator McClintock, but I still think McClintock would have had a better handle on how to get things done had he won than Arnold has.

A lot of people overestimated Schwarzenegger. It's as hard to hate him as it was to like Gray Davis and they thought he could handle the job. Nevertheless, things really aren't any better now than they were a year and a half ago. That is what people have figured out.

It may be more fun to listen to Arnold talk than was to listen to Davis, but the fact is that Arnold's all talk.

6. You are right about davis, but
in reality the best of the group probably would have been uberof(sic) because he seemed to be the most independent

8. Peter Ueberroth had already dropped out of the race
And I agree that Ueberroth is a Republican I could vote for in a pinch.

Apart from Schwarzenegger, the other four candidates participating in the debate were Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante (Democrat), writer Arianna Huffington (Independent), State Senator Tom McClintock (Republican) and financial consultant Peter Camejo (Green).

2. That's what he gets for saying"The Indians aren't paying their fair share"
Referring to having California's Indian tribes help reduce the state's deficit. The Indian tribes did not get the state in deficit and now where being used by Schwarzenegger during the recall campaign. Where was the state when the tribes where living in dire poverty? This B-rated actor needs to go back where he came from and leave the people who have been here thousands of years alone. I will never pay for one of his shitty movies again.

10. Now wait just a cott'n pick'n minute, Arnie...
The Indians have a right to every penny they get at those casinos. After everything the white Europeans (and I am one) have done to them in the last (at least)300 years, I say bully for them. We have three casinos in the county and they are good neighbors.

I will admit that some of the casinos are located in the wrong places, such as Cache Creek (right in middle of farming area), but this is California. Lots of the places where they would have the rights to put a casio are in the middle of residential areas or in the middle of nowhere.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT PROP 98

Proposition 98, the school funding constitutional initiatiave approved by the voters in 1988, has annually guaranteed minimum funding to California's public schools and provided disstricts with a predictable source of revenue.

Breaking his Promise to the Students and Parents of California the Governor Now Wants to GUT Proposition 98!

Under the governor's proposals:

1.  There will no longer be a guaranteed minimum level of funding to meet the needs of our students.
2.  Schools would be subjected to three rounds of automatic, across-the-board cuts with no consideration of funding needs.
3.  The "Maintenance Factor," which is the IOU to our public schools when state revenues are higher than expected would be eliminated.
4.  Every classroom in the state would lose $25,000 pushing California's per pupil expenditure ranking of 44th in the country even lower.
