SEN. SALAZAR TO DISCUSS PRESIDENT’S SOCIAL SECURITY PRIVATIZATION PLAN

Denver, CO – U.S. Senator Ken Salazar will hold five town hall meetings to talk with and solicit the views of Coloradans about the long-term health of the Social Security system and the President’s privatization plan. Senator Salazar will discuss the impacts of the President’s privatization plan on Colorado, including possible reductions in benefits, the excessive implementation costs and the resulting deficit crisis.

Senator Salazar said, “It’s my belief that the President’s privatization plan for Social Security is just bad medicine – but I would like to discuss this important issue with Coloradans. In the end, we need to maintain our commitment to a secure retirement for all Americans, while not piling mountains of debt on our children and future generations.”

The upcoming meetings will be held in Fort Morgan, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Alamosa and Grand Junction. The public is welcome. Below are details on times and locations.

I thought that went out of fashion under the Bush Administration.

Senator Salazer had better be prepared for a whole bunch of Bushoids showing up to disrupt his meetings.

Maybe setting up to videotape the whole thing, like CSPAN does, so we can see who starts the arguments.

Sounds to me like you're one of the really good ones! None of the pre-screening and signing of loyalty oaths like the Bushies always do in their forums. You really want the whole spectrum of people, with all their disparate views and opinions, as well as ideas and questions. GOOD GOING! Any time you want to move to California...

all southern colorado, where he might just hear pro-bush propaganda. I live in Greeley -- those are all at least 2 1/2 hour drives (if not 4 for most).

apparently Denver and the surrounding Metropolitan areas don't want or need to know any information about Social Security?

Maybe he thinks he already knows how we feel?

I'm not real pleased with Salazar, he seems to be acting in concert with his brother and only "representing" southern Colorado. Quite frankly, I have way different concerns then those people do!

He was on record as being opposed to Bush's SS privitization plan.

He was on record as being opposed to anti-gay marriage amendment.

He actually had a chance of winning, unlike Mike Miles.

Did he care what we thought about his supporting the incompetent Ms. Rice and the advocate of torcher Mr. Gonzales?

I called prior to these "townhall" meetings and his office said he would NOT support Bush' SS plan. So what does that tell me? Salzar will hold "townhall" meetings on issues that he knows are popular with dems. Reminds me of tactics used by current occupant of the White House just a tad.

but Salazar is a loyal Democrat. He won't switch parties.

We're not jaded, just watching him introduce Alberto Gonzales makes you wonder though...and voting for Condi. Right out of the gate, and he jumps to the GOP side. Not exactly loyal to the democrats, is he?

Feingold voted for those too. He's a Democrat in Colorado. He's still one of only two Dems elected statewide.

it really doesn't matter if he's a Democrat. I myself am SERIOUSLY worried about Salazar.

aside from cabinet appointments. He's a solid Democrat. The best you can hope to elect in Colorado and a very good person.
