Denver Post Talking Congress
Bob Ewegen of The Denver Post takes a look at the congressional outlook in 2006 today. Interestingly, he seems to cede the CD-7 seat to a Democrat (echoing our sentiments that Republican Mark Paschall could make things much easier for the Dem candidate) and gives Democratic State Representative Angie Paccione decent odds if she chooses to take on Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave in CD-4.

As readers of Colorado Pols know, Paccione has been talking about running in CD-4 for weeks while also making bold statements about her fundraising ability and the amount of money she supposedly has been promised if she makes the jump. We don't believe she's been promised anything concrete this early in the game, but as Democratic opponents to Musgrave go, Paccione is at the top of the list. State Senator Bob Bacon has also been mentioned as a possible candidate, but Paccione has been at the receiving end of the bulk of the rumors lately.

Paccione has been outspoken at the legislature, has made a decent name for herself, and has a good background to run from. But she'd still have to prove she can raise the money and would need a makeover, beginning with a hairdo that doesn't make her look like the stunt double for Pam Grier in Foxy Brown.

As Ewegen points out, a Paccione-Musgrave race could be interesting in that voters would have to choose between two candidates on opposite ends of the spectrum, with little in the way of pandering to the middle -- just a good old-fashioned, Democrat versus Republican matchup.

3. that might cost her the Green vote
they pulled 4% last time.

I wonder if she can pull enough from the center to make up for it?

4. I wouldn't think so
that's her religion, but she has a fairly progressive record. She's a good Democrat.
