Beauprez Frustrated With Holtzman Early Success

We hear that Congressman Bob Beauprez is growing increasingly frustrated that Marc Holtzman is not going away in the race for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.

Beauprez is continuing to raise money, but he is receiving more negative responses than he expected, with donors telling him that they have committed to Holtzman or giving him the old line that "You and Marc are both good friends of mine, and I don't want to get in the middle." Beauprez has confided in at least one member of the Colorado congressional delegation that he is surprised and frustrated that Holtzman is still in the race and going strong.

As Colorado Pols first reported last week, Holtzman had been offered by some big Republican figures (and likely Beauprez supporters) the interim state treasurer job as a way to get him out of the race for governor, but Holtzman turned them down.

For the life of me, I can't understand why or how THIS putz -- out of AAAAALL the other putzes out there -- has become such a darling of both the media and the republican party. So much so that he, as a freshman representative, snags a spot on the Ways & Means Committee?!?!?!?!?
