Rutt Bridges Enters Governor's Race
Democrat Rutt Bridges formally entered the governor's race today, as Colorado Pols reported earlier this week. Most significantly, he stated his intentions to be in the race "for the long haul" and went out of his way to say that this is not an "exploratory committee." Bridges is also the first candidate with a working website, www.bridgesforcolorado.com.

We'll have more on this after today's Q&A, but in the meantime, click below for the full press release. The coverage from The Denver Post has one really odd statement, however, and it looks like his announcement didn't go off so well...

From The Denver Post:

"I'm basically telling a bunch of my close friends and family that I'm in the race," said the 53-year-old political neophyte, who would not say why he is running nor reveal his campaign message. "That's not a conversation I'm willing to have yet," he said.

Why in the hell would you announce for governor without some sort of message about why you are running? That's ludicrous. We'll give Bridges credit for finally jumping in, and doing it with both feet, but Bridges has spent the first half of this year running around the state in a listening tour of sorts, and he has had a bevy of paid campaign staffers for months. And despite all of that, they can't even come up with a reason for why he is running for governor? Really??? That's inexcusable

2. Rutt
was instrumental in Democratic victories last year. He runs the big horn center, a progressive think tank. He helped finance the 527s that helped us win both houses of the legislature.
