Sen. Salazar gets it wrong again! re: Flag amendment.
We need laws that protect people's rights and property - not symbols. I am now very sorry that I campaigned and voted for this stupid jerk.

Salazar backs flag proposal

By M.E. Sprengelmeyer, Rocky Mountain News
June 24, 2005

WASHINGTON - Sen. Ken Salazar will back a constitutional amendment to let Congress ban burning of the American flag, providing a pivotal swing vote for the long-stalled proposal....

1. I agree with you
He might as well be a Republican. He's giving them his vote.

How long before he drops the pretense and switches parties?

2. Salazar's position on flag burning
I am sickened that Salazar not only decided to vote for the flag burning amendment (like his brother), but that he signed on as a co-sponsor. Our own allegedly Democratic Senator may be the pivotal vote to weaken the First Amendment for the first time in our nation's history!

Democratic activists should make known their displeasure with Salazar's position on the amendment. Salazar should be confronted at party events, rather than receive the polite applause that we usually give him. How about a group protest the next time he speaks, where members of the audience stand and turn their backs on him?

Although I supported Salazar in last year's primary, because I didn't think that Miles was electable, I would be happy to support Salazar's primary opponent the next time around. I would gladly vote for a REAL Democrat (like DeGette, Udall, FitzGerald, Romanoff, etc.) over Salazar. If such a primary were held today, Salazar would lose decisively. Any of the above-mentioned principled progressives could win statewide, with a good campaign. (Although why do Udall and his staff keep saying such nice things about that ultra-rightist Beauprez? Did anyone see the Hotline's interview with Udall's Chief of Staff, Alan Salazar? Salazar had nothing to say about Udall, but went out of his way to praise Beauprez.)

How about a DeGette/Salazar primary in 2010?

6. I'm with you.
I've been looking around, and have a realtor checking on my house value.

This state is spiraling into the toilet.

It's a shame that such a beautiful state would produce the Musgraves and Salazars of the world.
