Info Request : Reps for NE Colorado....
Hi all!

I'm looking for a Rep. or Sen. that my brother can write to concerning a situation he is in, trying to keep a roof over his kid's heads. A for-the-people type leader.

*Sally* is bi-polar (extremely!) and has abandoned the family. (Long, sorted story :( ) Aside from all the emotional trauma he's going through, there's a bureocratic problem that is preventing him from being able to take custody of the kids, and prevent her from wreaking havic in their lives. (this has been going on for 9 years, he's gotten her help several times, but she won't stick with it)

Here's the deal - The rent voucher that they had to get is in her name. If she 'officially' moves out (she leaves for days, weeks at a time), then they lose the voucher, and since the rents have doubled in that small town in the last 2 years, he can't do it alone.
He's got all the papers for custody done, the fees have been waived, all is set. Except if he files them, he loses the house. He has applied for the program, but with a 3-6 year waiting list, that's not a viable option.

Any idea's?

3. She's one of the most RW, fundie bigoted a-holes in Congress.
I think the senator is Bob Beauprez. He's very slightly better.

Musgrave is the primary sponsor of the Protect Marriage amendment.

4. Jeez
I'll probably find out her opinion is... "They should stay together FOR THE SAKE OF THE CHILDREN" He's tried that. We need to stop the damage now.

6. Beauprez is an ass..
I was at the Denver Pride fest today (Not gay just working there) and I met Peggy Lamm is is going to run against Beauprez, with her name and her demeanor she has a real shot at it....

7. Peggy Lamm
Peggy Lamm is running for Bob Beauprez's seat, but not against Beauprez. He is giving up his seat to run for Governor.

Lamm's principal primary opponent will be former State Senator Ed Perlmutter.

Lamm has some baggage -- she endorsed Bill Owens in 2002 and then claimed that she had not. (See recent issues of The Colorado Statesman newspaper for coverage of Lamm's attempt to rewrite history.) Also, Lamm was, shall we say, "very close" to Ken Chlouber, the (married) Republican from Leadville who ran against Diana DeGette in the 1st C.D. in 2002. Lamm provided the press with very positive quotes about Chlouber during that race.

FYI, Lamm is Dick Lamm's ex-sister in law. She was divorced from Dick Lamm's brother when Peggy Lamm was in the legislature. Given Dick Lamm's controversial anti-immigrant positions of late, the Lamm name may not help very much. People still remember Dick Lamm's unsuccessful race for the Sierra Club on an anti-immigration platform.

5. Possible help
Your brother's Representative is Marilyn Musgrave. His Senators are Wayne Allard and Ken Salazar.

I suggest that he contact Salazar's office and also try to find a good lawyer. If he can't afford one, he should call Legal Aid.

This is more of a legal problem than a political one.
