Making it legal for anyone 21 and older to posses an ounce of pot. I voted yes.

6. It's looking really close.
Edited on Tue Nov-01-05 10:17 PM by politicat
At 7:30, it was 49.1% to 50.9%, so it could go either way still.

It means that I won't be able to go to Denver anymore, but there's not a lot I'll miss.

(I am really, really, really allergic to the stuff.)

7. It passed in Denver
You can see the comments at Cnews in this thread- http://cannabisnews.com/news/thread21250.shtml

There is another iniative in Telluride and Free Cannabis is winning. The final results should appear in the link above.

8. yeah, the initiative requires every citizen to
smoke pot constantly while in public places.

WTF? we pass a little law that barely decrims marijuana, and you think that the town will be choked off by pot smoke? i think the smog in Denver will get you first.

9. I'm severely allergic.
Edited on Wed Nov-02-05 05:12 PM by politicat
Like contact allergy - I can't even touch hemp clothing or paper. I'm allergic to the plant, not the drugs. You've heard of peanut allergies that are so severe that children can go into anaphylactic shock from the molecules on other children's breath? That's me, with cannibis products. The second hand second hand smoke (i.e. what remains in the clothes and hair after being exposed to the plant's smoke) can put me in the hospital.

I already have to be very, very, very careful about being anywhere that pot is likely to be - I haven't been to a rock concert in years and I'm iffy about any type of public smoking. Having a city basically in my backyard (I live in Boulder County) where there are no legal issues save for the state and feds ups the ante for me, meaning I have to be much, much more careful.

And yes, I know about the smog. I'm not allergic to smog. Smog is a slow death over many years. Anaphylactic shock is a very quick, painful, frightening death.

And so you understand, because I'm allergic to an illegal substance, I cannot carry an epi-pen. It can't be authorized because I shouldn't be exposed to the substance to begin with.

10. You can still come to Denver.
The cops will still bust people on state and federal drug charges, so it's doubtful that masses of people will be blowing doobs in public.

11. True, but in increases the level of allergen in the environment.
We'll see. I am a bit paranoid about it, for obvious reasons. I like being alive, and if I did have a reaction, the 5 minutes it would take for an ambulance to get to me would be enough to do brain damage.

(As it happens, I'm careful in Boulder, too....)
