Help! I need restaurant suggestions (west Denver)
Hi, my mom is here from Texas and my boyfriend and I want to take her somewhere nice. She met him for the first time on Saturday, but they didn't get much of a chance to talk. So does anyone know a nice restaurant near Lakewood/Wheat Ridge area we can take her to? We are taking her out tomorrow night (Wednesday). I've been searching in the yellow pages and online, but can't really decide! Suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks!

I have a few suggestions. There are always the old chain standbys, such as the Outback or Hops at Denver West, but I'm sure that you would prefer something unique.

One of my favorites- and it is very special is the Table Mountain Inn. http://www.tablemountaininn.com/

There is always El Rancho up I-70 in Evergreen
http://www.historicelrancho.com/

or Simms Landing at 6th and Simms/Union in Lakewood. They have a wonderful view of downtown Denver, especially at night.

A friend of mine raved about an Italian restaurant called Abrusci's at 3244 Youngfield in Lakewood/Wheat Ridge. It is in a strip mall and Applejack Liquors is around the corner. My daughter has also tried it and said that it is really good.

edited to add the Heritage Square Opera House up at Heritage Square http://www.hsmusichall.com/shows.htm
They just finished with their popular Loud show and are showing from Rags to Riches now. They have a buffet, which is decent food, but their shows are so fun! They'll have you laughing and possibly singing along with them!

AND there is the class Briarwood in Golden- very pricey, but extremely elegant.
http://www.thebriarwoodinn.com/ It is probably too early for their elaborate Christmas decorations, but it is a beautiful place that serves wonderful food.

I will add some more, if I think of them. Have a great visit with her!

Dawn

edited to add one more- and I had better stop thinking, as I am getting hungry for some good food. If you don't want to come down towards the metro area, a classic in a beautiful area, although quite expensive is the Greenbriar Inn.
http://greenbriarinn.com/dinner/entrees I haven't eaten there for years, but it is really nice.

2. Any particular type of restaurant?
We live in West Denver, near Lakewood, and have a few favorites in this area.

4. Anything that isn't a steak house or BBQ
I'm a vegetarian, so I can eat anywhere but those two places, and we all like all types of ethnic foods.

5. Olivetti's
A very good and very pleasant Italian (more Sicilian) restaurant on South Wadsworth, just north of Hampden/US285. It's toward the back of a shopping center.

6. you'll not find a lot of vegetarian offerings in the Western suburbs
that is one of the reasons that I like to come to Boulder, which is about 15 minutes away up Indiana!

Simms Landing doesn't offer any non meat items, except dinner salads. The Table Mountain Inn offers something called a Portabello stack. THeir food is so different and fresh. I went there a couple of months ago, as my friend was playing in a band performing and had the best nachos that I had ever had. I can't put my finger on what was different, but they were really great. El Rancho has several noodle meat free dishes and Abrusci's, being Italian, has many offerings without meat. The closest ethnic restaurant that I can think of is called the Jewel of India up in Northglenn. http://www.denverpost.com/dining/ci_5243204
My youngest daughter had to write a report on ethnic foods, so I wound up there on a Friday night, with 3 fourteen year olds! I don't know much about Indian food, but everything was really tasty and fresh. I keep meaning to go back but.....

There is also a decent Mexican restaurant called Tafolino's at 20th and YOungfield.

I'm just happy to help, as I grew up here and these are my stomping grounds!

7. Yes and no
There's Namaste, a Tibetan and Indian restaurant almost next to Olivetti's. It's not vegetarian but does have a fair number of vegetarian dishes.
