Diane Farrell is running for Congress in 2006.

She filed the papers Wednesday.

1. Which district is she running in?
Shays district? Wasn't (or is) she mayor of Westport? Left CT last year, but don't hear too much about what is going on up there, except for the Rowland case.

2. I would assume the same district as last time
Which was against Chris Shays.

In Connecticut, though, she is not the mayor... small to mid-sized towns often are run by a Board of Selectmen & Selectwomen. The equivalent of mayor is called the First Selectman or Selectwoman.

3. The Fourth Congressional District
which covers lower Fairfield County. Chris Shays is the present Congressman, and has been for about twenty years.

She is the First Selectwoman of Westport, but is not running for reelection.

She ran against Shays in the last election and was defeated.

4. What's her platform?
I know she stated she is against the Patriot Act.

How about the war? What is her complete stance on it? What is her stance on war in general?

How progressive is she? for universal health care?

Other issues?

5. no idea, but you can get answers here
http://www.farrellforcongress.com/about/

I doubt she is way left of center or anything, as she would not have been elected in posh Westport, CT, where home prices probably average around $1 million or more.

7. probably why he voted "no" on CAFTA
He knew any Democrat in that district would score points on that issue if he said "yes"
