Groton Base Saved!!
This is good news! I hear that Chris Dodd and Rosa Delauro both used their incredible influence to make this happen. Of course, its an election year so Rell will try and take as much credit as she can and so won't that Bozo Simmons.

1. It is wonderful.
I couldn't believe it when I heard it. I was so sure they would approve the closure. Looks like most of the panel voted in favor of saving it too. The base is about 5 minutes from my house. Everyone in the area was very worried. Would have been a disaster!

3. What about SD?
I recall that the guy who beat Daschle campaigned that he had the ear of the President and ensure the base never closed, then had to turn to Daschle for help when the base was put on the list. Is it still slated to close?

5. good news for SE Connecticut
and, the state as a whole. Rob Simmons probably won re-election today unless Jim Calhoun decides he is sick of UConn hoops and runs!

6. Call me unbearably cynical, but I suspect it had more to do
with saving Rob Simmons' seat than Dodd or DeLauro...
