Bitter Father Wins Ruling (falsely accused)
MIDDLETOWN -- A Superior Court judge has awarded $3.5 million in damages to a local man, saying his former fiancée falsely accused him of sexually abusing their daughter during a bitter custody dispute five years ago.

It was a bittersweet victory for Ajai Bhatia, who lost his $100,000-a-year engineering job and his house, and spent tens of thousands of dollars in a tumultuous legal battle to clear his name.

Bhatia was escorted out of his engineering job at the Shelton office of Pitney-Bowes in handcuffs, accused of being a pedophile, on Dec. 26, 2001. He spent four days in jail. He endured a long criminal trial, was acquitted of sexual assault charges resulting from his fiancée's complaint and has been the subject of multiple child-abuse investigations involving the state Department of Children and Families.

1. And so little happens to the real abusers...
shall we list the many recent deaths of young girls committed by men who had been previously arrested and let go.

3. Bitter father. Bitter father. Bitter father.
Looks like even the newspaper has it in for this fellow.

Bitter? No man in his right mind wouldn't come out of something like this in ... in his right mind. And since prosecuting pedo cases is the ultimate career-maker for junior prosecutors, we can count on a whole lot more of them in the future.

Batten down the hatches, guys. The War Between The Sexes was just joined by an entire profession of nuclear arms merchants with bad attitudes and sang-froid ambition.

5. hell i'd be damn bitter if i was him and i'm a woman!
seriously why can't this woman be prosecuted for filing a false report? apparently multiple reports in her case!

police in louisiana and mississippi prosecute for filing a false police report in my area all the time -- if the report is that "some unknown person" robbed them when they really lost the money at the casino

this crime is a thousand times worse

the lawsuit is meaningless, this woman is never going to pay any of this money, she prob. doesn't have any money to begin with

there needs to be criminal penalties and actually there are -- so why aren't they used?

6. Probably cause they figure wouldn't be in the best interest of the child
Unless the real father is available and not considered unfit they would consider the mother necessary in raising the child.

They could possibly consider waiting until the child reaches the age of majority before having the mother serve time. In addition, after the child moves out no later than 21 years they could sell the house to pay for part of the fine.

They don't have a problem garnishing wages of "deadbeat" fathers for child support. No reason they can't do the same for this woman even though the fine will never be paid off. At least she would be paying something.

7. Exactly.
And no one wants to talk about how our own fears (fed by Fox programming, in large part) of sex offenders are being used to justify an ever-expanding prison industrial complex.
