1. This stinks

The Repukes will desperately try even though they have no chance. As Ned Lamont would say: "You're not going to lose a Senator. You're going to gain a Democrat."

2. Looks like they are fielding two canidates,
with one claiming to be an "independent".

3. Urban seems to be a supporter of animal welfare..
She is sponsoring this meeting next week.....

To: All Animal Lovers!

Subject: An Open Forum on Animal issues…to discuss strategy and legislation for the 2007 Session of the Connecticut General Assembly, such as, Stray and Feral Cat Issues, Adoptions for Dogs and Cats From Pounds, etc., Ordinances for overpopulation solutions; Rescue groups challenging uncaring, unethical, immoral, and inhumane people, including some ACOS; the Animal Population Fund, and all issues relating to animals and their well-being.

The time and space that has been reserved at the LOB - Legislative Office Building/Capitol in Hartford for this meeting is July 17th, Room 2B, from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. We have the 2nd floor atrium as a break area for coffee and cookies that Representative Diana Urban will provide. If you would like to go with some other people that will be attending from your area, please just let me know and I'll set you up with people that are in the same area. However, parking will be available in the garage, on the 2nd floor.

As the word gets out, please let me know, NOT Rep. Diana Urban, of which I gave you in error, her email address in a past email, if you plan on attending, as we are putting together some materials, bills, etc., and we will also need to know for the coffee and cookie count, as well.

Thank you all very much. This will also give everyone a chance to meet other people that are all in this business of caring, sharing, and saving animals' lives, as well.

Also, please pass this on to as many animal lovers that you know.

And I apologize ahead of time if you receive this letter in duplicate, however, we need as much support, and show of people as we can get for this meeting, for the animals.

For The Animals,

Debbie Sweeney
Animal Rights and Welfare Advocate
Cat Rescuer/Socializer
Shelter Operator/Worker

4. I doubt it.
Now don't get me wrong--I support Lamont and I'm worried about this development. But I have to say that Diana Urban is not your typical Republican. She's fought for living wage campaigns, she's a strong environmentalist, and I heard her speak against the Iraq war a long, long time ago, when most of the country supported it.

I spoke with her briefly after a forum. She knew I was part of a local peace and justice group. She said, "Don't worry about that R after my name," and winked at me.

If Lamont wins the primary, I'm all for Lamont. But if Lieberman wins, it's going to be a tough decision for me, because of course I don't want a Republican Senate majority, but Rep. Urban is far, far more progressive and honest than Lieberman.
