New London Day endorses McNally
McNally For The Democrats

The differences between the two men are in their life experiences, the depth and breadth of policies they advocate as a result, and their ability to articulate those policies. On this basis, The Day endorses Shaun McNally....

Shaun McNally served in the Peace Corps and was indelibly changed by volunteering in the African nation of Liberia for two years. He speaks of his international experiences time and again in reflecting upon America's place in a world that is increasingly hostile to the policies advocated by the Bush Administration. He advocates regional peacekeeping forces in various areas of the world that would seek to quell disturbances without needing to involve the United States — and would have a better chance of success. He stresses that the war in Iraq has made America not more safe, but less....

Because Mr. McNally worked for the CBIA he has a good sense of the challenges faced by businesses in Connecticut and the nation at large as well as the pressures on the working class. Because he worked as an effective state legislator, he connects the dots between policy decisions that are constructive and those which are not. “You don't cap Pell grants for three years when college costs have gone up 30 percent,” he said. “You don't stand for the federal government gutting housing subsidies when the Northeast has the highest housing costs in the country.”

Shaun McNally has an impressive record of legislative accomplishment and understands public policies in detail. He is articulate as few candidates are....

But in the interest of the liveliest race, The Day believes Mr. McNally is the best primary choice because he has a keen intellect, a depth of experience and will give Rep. Simmons the toughest run for re-election.

I hope I did this right.
