What do you think about Peter Schiff running for Senate:
He advocates reducing regulations, cutting federal spending, etc. The policies that caused the problems we are having. I don't think he could ever be a competent Senator. Managing a national economic system is significantly different from managing a private business, and far more complex. Does anyone know how many supporters he has?

3. My mom worked for his Dad when he was an accountant. Said he
was nutty. That was in the early 70's before I was born.

Like father like son. Schiff is kind of loony as well.

5. Yes. My mom said he was wacky back when she knew him.
My family is from Cheshire. I will have to ask where she was working with him back in the 70's. Totally weird family.

Per wikipedia:
In June 2004, a Federal court ruled that Schiff was liable for over $2 million in taxes, penalties and interest for the years 1979 through 1985. In that case, Schiff's attorney had filed a brief claiming a diminished capacity defense, contending that Schiff had been diagnosed with a chronic, severe delusional disorder relating to his beliefs about the federal income tax system. This was characterized by some opponents of Schiff's beliefs as a claim that those beliefs were the product of a delusion, or even insanity, and that Schiff had willingly allowed his defense counsel to raise such an argument.

In other words, the guy is nuts.

6. I was in that apartment building in Hamden until 1983
when my son was 2. I think we moved in there in the late 70's. His book had been published at that point.

2. Non of the Repubs have a chance against Blumenthal
Even some Repubs like Blumenthal. The Repubs best hope was Dodd staying in the race and now that it's gone, none of them have a chance against Blumenthal.

7. Schiff is sort of like Ron Paul
He has a small group of loyal & passionate followers. Colin McEnroe had made a comment about Schiff not making a smart remark (something about the concerns of CT voters don't matter, he was running to "help" the whole country) and his blog got swamped with Schiff-heads defending Schiff and/or bashing Colin.

However, thinking less regulation and more free market is the answer is looney - he was like a broken clock on predicting the financial crisis - it was his twice a day time to be correct.
