Who wants to meet-up on 1/17 for when Obama's train stops in Wilmington
http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2008/12/obama_to_take_t.html

Obama is taking the train to Washington DC as part of the Inauguration and will be stopping by the train station on the 17th to pick up Joe Biden on the trip in.

I thought it would be cool to meetup in Wilmington (we can use my house as a place to meet, I'm right in Wilmington) and then head over to Amtrak to greet the train.

Bonus - I have downtown parking near the train station. My car only holds 5 people but if someone has a larger car that holds more I'll bring my parking pass along and we can park near by and walk over. The other option would be taking the Bus, I'm right down the block from a bus that takes up right to Amtrak station.

1. I would!
I was thinking of going to D.C. on the 20th, but I think I've missed enough work. I gave up a bunch of days (and nights) working for the Obama campaign in PA (usually calling from DE, but some canvassing) that I think I should choose the local option. Although I may end up doing both :-)

2. Obama train stop in Wilmington De
01/14/2009

My wife,Lois, and I are planning to drive to Wilmington late
Fri./early Sat., 01/17, from upstate NY(about a 4 hour trip)in
an attempt to at least get a glimpse of President-elect Obama
and his team. We are in our early 70's and have worked as
volunteers for the Obama campaign for the past year, since the
NH primary, registering and canvassing voters in NY as well as
RI, PA, and NC. We did some training with the NY Democratic
Lawyers Council and worked as poll-watchers on election day.
We were never able, however, to be present at a live Obama
event to see him in person despite being in the same city
where he was appearing while were working for him.
We would love to connect with any of the Obama faithful in or
around Wilmington with whom we could pay our respects and show
our support for him. It would also be a help to us because we
have never been to Wilmington and do not know the area.
I have just learned that the Amtrak station is closing on the
17th during Obama's stop in Wilmington. I don't understand
what this means in terms of him making an appearance. We will
be grateful to anyone who can help us with information to
accomplish our goal.
We are at 10 West Prospect Ave in Middletown, NY, and can be
reached at joedw@citlink.net and 845-343-1155.
