FL-13 DUers....who should take on fake moderate Vern Buchanan in 2010?

I hate that this corrupt windbag is still my congressman......insider corporate "Dem" Christine Jennings' second attempt to win was certainly a laugher, and I think a stronger candidate needs to be found....one I would suggest would be Jono Miller, who barely lost out to Carolyn Mason for the Sarasota County commission after the Sarasota GOP Political Machine used their usual smear tactics against him. Reportedly he was popular among some Republicans . I think he'd be a pretty strong candidate seeing as he's familiar with the tactics of the Sarasota GOP.

Another person I'd suggest would be state Rep. Keith Fitzgerald, who is also very familiar with false Sarasota GOP attacks...including one which seemed to allude to his weight:

Anyone else who would be a decent candidate? There aren't too many elected Dems around here so the bench is somewhat short. Obviously Jan Schneider can run again too.....

and I like Jan Schneider, she is a REAL democrat, no hair spray!

At a meet up over the weekend I met an up and comer, stated that he was going to start local and work his way up. He mentioned running in a primary in '08 in the state of Iowa for U.S. Rep. Very good looking younger gentleman who obviously spends a lot of time in the gym. I would guess in his mid to late 30s and he didn't say who he would challenge but gave some hints about challenging Kathy Dent. Didn't have a lot of time to chat, but what I could garner is that he is a Marine veteran and has lived in Europe both while in the military and after he got out.

Maybe we could just get him on the fast track and have him challenge old Vern right out of the gate? A democratic Marine would be sure to be appealing to people in both parties.

I would love to see Fitz step up and go for it as well...I think he'd give Vern a hard run.

The Sarasota Dem party is a mess and needs serious help.

Fitzgerald would probably be the best candidate.....he has name recognition and has beat the Sarasota GOP attacks.

Hopefully Vern runs for Senate and loses....that would be sweet. At least fake Democrat Christine Jennings is finally calling it quits. What a loser.
